I have a john deere 737 mower and it started running on one cylinder. I bought a coil for it and put it on and had the same problem. so I looked into it a little more. I am not getting any spark at all if...

You have the wiring hooked up wrong. The way you have it is grounding out the coil that isn't working. I have ran into this problem at our shop only once. Only after contacting tech support was I able to get it right. Unfortunately I cant for the sake of me remember how I did it. I do remember that when I got it right, it didn't look like it would work. I am frustrated at my self for not being able to remember.

My x320 will not fire. I changed gas , plugs and filters. Charged battery and checked all fuel delivery devices. I have spark , gas , and air but it will not fire

Is the Sparkplug cable getting fire? To check it pull the cap off of the plug. carefully pull the cap back to expose the snap ring. hold the wire part with insolated pliers (it will bite if hot) close enough to the head (metal part) to get about a 1/8 in gap between sparkplug snap and the head While in a poor light area or dark. have someone turn key. you should get a bluish spark. if not check for a burnt inline fuse. fuse is good then replace sparkplug wire, voltage regulator and coil. best to do all 3 because if one is bad the working parts were over working while the failing part was weakening. Good luck!

Jd X320 will not start changed fuel filte, spark plugs, and checked air filter

I assume it cranks, but won't fire up? Make sure the choke lever is moving the linkage in front of the carb. If so, tap the carb bowl lightly with a wrench. (That fixed mine once, and it never did it again) Have you had your valve lash adjusted? Be sure the carb is getting fuel. Pull the fuel line off the carb, and try to crank it... My X320 has 1,500hrs on it, and I have had great luck! Keep me posted, I want to help you get this figured out!

My John Deere X320 has gas fires up, but will not start running

Alot of the X300 series mowers were shipped out of factory with interlock modules that failed often and some were on a fix-as-fail program. Not sure if this is whats wrong with yours but if it was in our shop its the first thing that gets replaced depending on you serial number. Its located just under the front side of dash with a few wires going to it.

John deere x320 will not syart. if one coil ground is disconnected it will start right up. if started this wsy the pto will not engaage.

The wiring harness under the engine shroud that feeds both coils has a diode on each of the wires that connects coils. The diodes keep each coil from grounding each other out so when one diode goes bad it will only run on the cylinder with the strongest coil.Order new harness from Deere, cost less than $30.

JD mower-only one coil firing

I just switched the coils around. The other cylinder went dead, so I knew I had a bad coil. Replaced the coil and mower runs great.
