Most of these universal remotes don't always have the same features as the original remote. I usually just keep the old remote for just that purpose---to set the T-Set. Otherwise, sorry.

First. Don't have the remote. On a magnavox dv220mw9 model. Plays regular. VHS tapes ok it won't play a recorded tape on our 32 inch Curtis flat screen tv. Where can I get a remote for this. Also wi

You can get a general purpose "universal remote" and program it but difficult and tough to get all of the functions to work. I would recommend stepping up the price paid for a remote to around 100 - 120 dollars. The one I recommend is the URC remote. This one can be programmed with multiple components to a single button. There are many out there other than URC but it is one the I use and have found to be very reliable.

Set the timer to record

Do you have the remote which came with it? Most VCRs of the last 10 years require the remote to setup a timed record, or for that matter, most of the advanced functions- beyond play/rewind/ffwd, etc.

Assuming you do have the remote, and the correct time is set, and the timed record properly setup, some VCRs require a the On-Timed-Record button to be pushed. This sets the VCR in a wait mode, until the time set for the recording to begin.

Consult your owners manual- an online manual may be available if the printed one is missing.

Universal remote

Consult VCR operator manual .....If I remember, there is a selection in the menu to designate a channel so that when a source box is used, the channel selected remains the same in
timer mode........channel recorded is selected on box,in that
equipment configuration............so step thru the video recorder
menu on page at a time.........T.

Remote not connecting

If you still have the original remote for the DMR-E80H, you can switch it back to operate with "1 CHK REMOTE" codes by holding down the "Enter" button on the remote and then press the "1" key.

If you don't still have the original remote, you can try the same steps on your universal remote (assuming it also has an "enter" key that worked with your recorder) and it could work.

Tape Speed

Most late VCRs of the last 10+ years had just basic operating functions with the VCR mounted buttons. Setup of timed recording, and other advanced functions require a remote box, either the manufacturer original, or a universal unit which specifically is able to do advanced. Not all universal units have that capability, so if you go to your local electronics store, check this out carefully. Manufacturer remotes are available: Look here- http://www.electronicadventure.us/Merchant2/merchant.mv?screen=prod&store_code=EA&product_code=6711R1N051A Zenith may offer their own universal remotes- again, check them out for the capabilities required.

No remote or manual.

So we're basically screwed when the recording speed is stuck on SP? We can't change it??

I have a Sanyo VCR and just bought a universal remote, hoping that I'd be able to access some kind of menu to change the recording speed. I can't get it to change the speed, though.

Is there any hope for me?
