Question about Bose Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

Campanion 2 Bose speakers: Is there any reason why I couldn't run this system from a 12 volt DC source, as long as it is receiving matching voltage (11.95-12.25 V DC with correct polarity)?

SOURCE: What is the DC voltage, current, and polarity of AC adapter

Howya mate , i wouldn't use a adapter which your not 100% sure belongs to it , even something you'll have the right connection and the right voltage on the plug it will still fry the chip or electrics cause the designers of the item designs adapters in such a way the voltage might be the same but the current is altered and that's why you have to buy a replacement adapter at double the price.

SOURCE: I have Bose® Companion® 2 Series I

Each device is different.
If the receptacle for the plug is not marked, you have few options.
I suggest the following.
Go buy the exact same setup from a store you can easily return it to.
Take the whole box to Radio Shack and explain that you need a power supply to replace the power supply in the box. They will sell you one, plug and all, for about $10-15.
If you have a DVM (Digital Volt Meter), you can check the voltage and polarity yourself, and buy what you need, test it out, and install it.

Just because the system's volume knob can be set to 10, it dies not mean that this is a continuous rating.
The system is most likely overheating, and going into thermal protection.
If you feel like doing a custom mod, fit a small cpu fan to cause airflow over the amplifier ic or it's heatsink. CPU fans generally run off 12 Volts DC, and many speaker systems use the same voltage.

I only need the AC Adapter Campanion 2 for my Bose spearkers. How can I find just the adapter?

Look where the AC adapter would plug in.
Look for "rating", e.g., 'DC' or 'AC',
and '6V' or '9V',
and look at the size/shape of the plug.

Then, go to a "Dollar Store" or "Thrift Store", and try to match the ratings and the plug-layout with the available inventory.

Or, contact BOSE, and see if you can buy it from their web-site.

Changing the inpout voltage of inside bose Acoustimass module

Probably not, but you can install a step-down transformer if there's room inside the unit. Since these speakers don't use much current, a small transformer will work. It doesn't have to be a 220-to-110 transformer either - any transformer designed to cut the voltage in half is fine. A 24 volt-to-12 volt transformer will also work.
