So change the words in the link above so they say Rad instead of Rid ( fixya has a problem with the word Radic*ls) and this is an example of how to do 7th root.

What key strokes are used on Hp12 C for square root calculation?

Put in the number you want the square root of, then press g [square-root].

g is the blue shift key (third key from the left on the fourth (bottom) row of the keyboard). square-root is on the 1/x key (second key from the left on the second row of the keyboard).

30xiis decimals square root

In general you cannot. If the square root happens to be an integer (ex: SQRT (4)=2) or a rational number (SQRT(16/9)=4/3) you can convert from one form to the other, but that is the same as converting from a decimal to a fraction.
However you can never convert 1.414213562 (the first 10 digits of SQRT(2)) into the radical SQRT(2). The reason is that root here is an irrational number: its decimal representation is endless and not periodic (non repeating).

How do I use the calculator on the LG Octane? I want to use the square root function and keep getting an error message.

sqrt is really the root. to get the square root, you have to tell the calculator that it is the 2 root. So, to get the square root of 9, simply enter "2" <operators><sqrt> "9" and the answer displayed is 3. Note, the number 2 followed by the operators soft key, followed by selecting the sqrt option followed by the number 9, followed by the =.

The TI-84 Plus Silver Edition - when dealing with roots and powers - how do you punch in the third root of or the fourth root of... also, how do you punch in ...the 3rd root of 8 cubed? or the 2nd root of...

Press the MATH key to bring up the Math menu. Option 3 gives you cubed, option 4 gives you cube root, option 5 gives you nth root.

For example, 3rd root of 8: MATH 4 8 ENTER gives 2.

4th root of 16: 4 MATH 5 16 ENTER gives 2.

How do i do a number 'to the power of 1/2 or 2/3? cheers Brad

Power 1/2 is the same as square root: You can use the square root key to the left of the square key.
Similarly power 1/3 is the cube root. You use the [SHIFT][Square root] key sequence.
Power 2/3 is the square of the cube root, or the cube root of the square.

More generally, you can use the universal power key, marked with X with a raised white rectangle. It is between X square and log.

Ex: Calculate 15^(2/3)
15 [X with raised rectangle] 2 [/] 3 [)] [=]; the result is 6.082
The last parenthesis closes the left parenthesis introduced by the calculator.
Alternatively you can use the cube root and the x-root selections available under the MATH menu.(selections 4 and 5)

How do you tak the square root of 64 or the 4 root of any other #

Hi shiny_diamon
Here is a picture of the powers and root functions of your calculator.
1.To calculate the cubic root of a number you use the key combination shown on line 5
Ex: Cubic root of 27
27 [2nd] [3 root x] [EXE]; Should get 3
2. You can use the general root key on line 7 [2nd][x Root y]
Ex: Cubic root of 125
125 [2nd][ x Root y] 3 [EXE] Should get 5
(-125) [2nd][x Root y] 3 [EXE]; Should get -5

3. You can also yse the general power key on line 6: [Y to x], but the degree of the root is entered as a fraction 1/3
Ex: cubic root of -125.
(-125) [Y to x]( 1/3) [EXE]; You should get -5

4. The [Y to x[ key is the one you use to obtain all other roots fourth, fift, tenth, n-th.
Ex: Fourth root of 256
256 [Y to x] (1/4) [EXE]: You should get 4

5. To extract the squqre root of a number you can use the key on the 3rd line [root x] or the general power key on line 6 with exponent 1/2
Exemple square root of 256
256 [Root x] [EXE] should give you 16
256 [Y to x] (1/2) [EXE] should give you 16 also

Hope that helps.
