If the problem started recently, you may try the System Restore option in Windows. If this didn't work, uninstall the Audio driver and reinstall it using the driver from your laptop manufacturer's website. Try to download first the driver before doing this.

DIGITAL S METER READING TOO HIGH WHAT VR POT TO ADJUST

please follow this steps and fix it. GOD BLESS you

    • 1
Turn on all of the devices in your sound system. Turn off any auto-equalizers on your sound system to gain fullest control over frequencies. This switch might be found on the receiver or the equalizer itself.
    • 2
Play a test song on repeat. Choose a song with both extremely high and extremely low instruments so that you have a wide frequency range to listen for.

    • 3
Listen for any obvious distortions in the highs and lows of the songs. Lower the knob on your equalizer for any distorted frequencies until the distortion disappears. Try at first to find the highest setting possible without distortion.
    • 4
Adjust all frequency ranges in relation to each other to find a pleasing blend for your room, trying not to let any one frequency range dominate the others. Use the highest non-distorting settings found in Step 3 as maximum settings, but don't be afraid to lower a booming bass or a screeching flute that disrupts the overall blend of the music.

Play a song from a different genre to test how the EQ works for different types of music. A hip hop song will have louder lows than a string quartet, for example, so make sure your bass frequencies sound crisp on both types of music.

Peavey speakers making no sound

Try connecting them to another amplifier...you can use the speaker output of a guitar amp as a quick test. If the amp (and mixer) check OK, it sounds like you are about to become good friends with your local speaker reconing shop.

Remember...Distorted Audio Can Kill Speakers even at low volumes. It happens because sine waves become square waves. Google it for additional information.

If the master output lights go above green (into yellow) the sound becomes slightly distorted even at low speaker levels. i have cleaned the output jacks but it is still distorted

Does the distortion ALSO appear when you listen with headphones? If not, the problem may be downstream. The driver for the mute control line to the mute transistors may have a problem. Make sure the mute is off.

Hi i recently bought a cobra 29 ltd chrome cb radio for my car,i also installed a new antenna ,i have a strong signal, but i am unable to hear conversations because the sound is distorted. It sounds like...

You can't tune the radio. You are supposed to tune the antenna.

I have a page for tuning your antenna. This can cause some distortion, but it shouldn't be that bad. Go here for how to tune your antenna.

also the internal speakers aren't that great. Try an external. I can't just use an internal because an external is so much better.

Something else to consider. There is a lot of skip right now. Skip is when the ionosphere becomes charge by solar flairs, and causes radio signals to skip across it, making them travel hundreds and even thousands of miles. There are some cb operators out there who run a lot of power. 10k watts and up, who just talk skip all day. A lot of those guys sound extremely distorted and over modulated. You may be hearing these guys out there. Its their radio's not your receive.

Also. People who are close to you, may over load the front of the radio in the receive section, which will make it sound distorted.

Volume is at 100% yet sound is very low/hard to hear

Hi,
Some TomTom one speakers are known to have faults develop. Usually the speaker goes ipen circuit resulting in no sound at all. other can simply go distorted. It might be that your speaker has gone faulty. ( some scrap laptops might yield a suitable replacement speaker as they often will fit )

Another fault common on TomTom one ( early version ) is the extension speaker socket on the base of the TomTom becomes dirty or it can be stressed if you have ever had need to use the socket. The socket also acts as a switch to turn the internal speaker off when the socket is uses. It is very easy to end up with a bent contact on this socket so that even when any plug is removed the switch contact on the socket remains open. This results in sound being cut-off to the internal speaker or the sound might become low or distorted.

I would recommend you check out both these possibilities . Please let me know via this forum how you get on.

Good luck.

This may sound stupid but try this turn the volume knob to high and low continously for a few seconds sometimes the contacts become dirty and just a little movement back and forth quickly repairs it. I said SOMETIMES.

the speakers can only be accessed from the inside of the set. try using the sound Field button on the remote ( the one with the music symbol). change to effects off it may be in surround mode and causing the speaker to buzz.

Random shutting down

This answer is generic to most sound system amplifiers:

Check to see if the speakers are too low impedance for your unit. For example, if you have 4 ohm speakers and the system is rated for 8 ohms only, it can go in to protect mode (shut-down). If you are running 2 sets of speakers at the same time, and the total load impedance is equal to less than the spec of the amplifier, this can cause a safety shutdown.

The output stage power devices (transistors or IC's) can be going over temperature. This you will not be able to feely with your hand unless it was extremely severe.

It is possible that there is a component(s) that have become thermo sensitive, and when reaching normal operation they go out of specs. It is also possible that there is a cold solder connection and with thermo expansion from the normal increase of temperature, there is a loss of contact and the amplifier goes in to protection.

One other thing I have seen, is where the customer uses the amplifier excessively loud where there is some distortion. This causes some clipping in the sound. Sometimes the distortion can be very low to the point where to the listener the sound appears to be clean sounding. After some time, the amplifier will be triggered in to protection. If this is the case, you need a higher powered amplifier, or more efficient speakers, and or both.

You should get this checked if your connections to the speakers are compliant to the spec of the amplifier.
