Question about Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

The CD player in my original factory installed radio/cd player (2005 GMC Sierra 1500) quit working. I ordered a Kenwood KDC-MP242 to replace it. This aftermarket stereo comes with a DIN connector. Will I have to deal with the anti-theft system screwing with the new radio when I install it myself? Thanks

You should be able to buy an adapter at a local store that will hook everything up so you dont have to worry about that problem

Different or additional harness needed to install a Kenwood kdc 255u radio/cd player in a 2005 Scion XB?

Hi there,

YES.... to prevent cutting of any factory wiring (this use to be the old install method and requires much more time and expense) and potential electrical fires, you can now buy quite cheaply, what is called a Radio adapter harness.

As you wish to install a Kenwood radio to your Toyota Scion, simply buy an adapter loom which has a 2005 Toyota Plug on one end, with a Kenwood plug on the other (this essentially replaces the wiring loom that came with your Kenwood unit).

So, it's that easy .... Plug and Play.

And... if you sell your Toyota and wish to put your old Toyota radio back in, the original radio just plugs back in. PRESTO !

Hope this helps..

Cheers,

Scott

The easiest way is to buy a a wireing adapter that connects up to your original factory harness for your factory radio. There will be instuctions with it. Showing you what wires to connect up to the kenwood deck. You can get them at wallmart,Or most audio stores that sell car audio.

i cannot understand how you radio would work. These radios are coded throught data link to computer. the only way to get the stereo to work is to run a calibration program through the vehicle. then it should accept your new cd player. if the stereo's are the same then may I suggest you to take the radios appart and switch the parts that don't work like CD drive assembly and faceplate.but use your factory installed stereo as the main core, this should fix your isses and work fine since the calibration is for the origional factory stereo.

Kenwood kdc mp242, no sound, ford explorer, 94

if that ford had premium sound you have either not hooked up the factory amp or you have blown a fuse to it. you won't get sound unless that amp is hooked up.

Selling Receiver

Hello alleycat121,

The KDC-MP235 was replaced with the KDC-MP238 which was replaced with the KDC-MP242, the current model. It's an entry-level receiver that retails new for around $120 with online prices around $75-100.

If the receiver is in good working condition, and you have all of the paperwork and installation accessories, it should be worth about 50% of new cost.

Hope this helps.

you might have to take it to the dealership to have the radio reprogramed. it should only cost 40 bucks. these radios are very tempermental and have a mind of their own sometimes. My profesional recomendation would be to have an aftermarket cd player in. they are much nicer and have way better quality than the factory radio's
