Question about Nikon Cameras

1 Answer

I just got a Bower Elite series 4.7x Xtreme high definition AF telephoto lens for my Nikon L810. Installed but it won't focus correctly. Does the camera need to be taken off auto focus, if so how?

It's not actually a telephoto lens, it's a telephoto adaptor. I have used something similar, though not this actual model, and only on MF lenses. Have you tried at all focal lengths of the zoom - it may only operate within certain limits. If it happens constantly, then you may need to switch to manual focus.

Thank you, I'll try that. Thinking about taking a photography course as I am a real amateur!

There are many fine fine videos on YouTube, covering all levels of photographic experience. You may find this a more helpful approach, where you can learn what you want to know, not what the lecturer wants to teach you ! Have fun, and don't worry about mistakes - every mistake is a learning opportunity.

The Bower SLY500PN High-Power 500mm f/8 Telephoto with T-mount attached to my Nikon D5200 shows 'nop lens attched'. What is the problem?

There is no problem. The lens simply does not have the electronics for the camera to detect. You need to use the lens in Manual mode (turn the mode dial to M). You'll have to set both the shutter speed and aperture yourself, without any help from the camera's exposure meter.

You can take a picture, look at it on the back of the camera (preferably with the histogram) and adjust the exposure accordingly. Repeat until you get a good exposure.

Quantaray 600-1000mm Telephoto Zoom Lens FOR NIKON work with D3100 in all modes?

The lens is a manual focus lens. It doesn't matter which mode you have the camera in, you'll still have to focus it yourself.

Why wont my Nikon af nikkor 70-300mm G lens autofocus its self with my D5000 camera

The D5000 does not have a focus motor in the body, relying on the lens to have one. The old 70-300mm G lens does not have a focus motor, relying on the camera to have one. Thus, this combination will not autofocus.
The newer 70-300mm AF-S G lens, as well as the even newer 70-300mm VR AF-S lens, do have the autofocus motor and thus will autofocus on the D5000.

Will this lens work with my Canon rebel eos 8mgp xt

Yep these work on all D-SLR,S you might need a t-mount to make it fit you camera ,cheap as chips on the bay .Use the camera on manual mode set fstop and focus on the len,s no af on these old slook types of telephoto you may have issues at these massive focal lenght as no IS on the len,s or you canon so tripod and cable release or self timer needed .But it will work massivly slow at 2600mm so long exposure time expected .

How fix the back focus of Nikon AF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G? unable to focus whatever adjust made from the lens.

Hello marion.... Rutn the camera on and open up the menu. Find the reset function and reset the camera. All that does is reset it to the factory settings, the settings it had when you first took it out of the box. In most instances this will fix the problem. If it does, great. If not, take it or send it into a Nikon repair shop. Opening it up your self will void the warranty. Joe

thanks for choosing Fixya!

Double check to make sure that the camera/lens is not set to manual mode. The next item would be to check would be to clean the contacts of lens, where it attaches to the body. Try the camera with another AF-S lens. It may be that the autofocus unit on the lens has stopped working.

Lens will not open up all the way

Is the maximum available aperture dependent on the focus distance? Many macro/micro lenses "dim" slightly as you focus in close.

See if you get 2.8 focused at infinity.

I'd like to purchase a micro lens for my Nikon camera. My question is: Does the Phoenix AF 100mm f/3 5 Macro Telephoto Lens used with Nikon D 90''

If the Phoenix lens is autofocus (AF) in Nikon mount, it will work with the D90. You may find that you want to switch to manual focus when you are using it for macro shots for better control of focus. It will still set exposure properly when set to manual focus.

Nikon AF-s VR zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm

First the auto focus motor is in the body and not the lens so that will not be the problem. Unless you dropped the lens the problem is probably in the focus gear interface inside the lens ( it is stuck in the manual drive --that is why no autofocus-- and there is something preventing normal gear operation). Seems like a small problem but will require a look at the rear of the lens where the gear box is situated.
