SOURCE: Not holding charge

Ok, folks.. I just posted my own problem with the battery not holding it's charge..but, we fixed it ourselves.. take the motor loose from the canister , remove the filter and in the back are two contacts.they are two screws at the bottom one on each side... get out your pencil with a GOOD eraser and clean those contacts!..clean around them both and the contact (silver spot at the bottom) and you're good to go!!

SOURCE: Hello, what is the significance

yes the reason the green and red light were flashing the way they are is because its a warning to you that the battery is either no longer good or there is problems with your wireing. Also those vaccumes were designed to not charge when there to cold or to hot as a saftey issue.

Dc31 charges in a couple of minutes battery only lasts 50 seconds is it battery or charger or both ?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear your DC31's charge isn't lasting as long as it should be. From what you've described it could be the battery that's at fault, but we'd appreciate the opportunity to talk you through some simple diagnostic checks over the phone when you have your machine to hand. By doing this we can determine exactly which part needs replacing, and avoid you ordering an unnecessary part.

You can reach the Dyson UK Helpline on 0800 298 0298. We're available from 8am-8pm from Monday to Friday, and 8am-6pm on weekends. Calls are free from UK landlines.

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

      Dc31 flashes green

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Usually if the indicator light flashes green when the trigger is pulled, this means the machine needs to be charged. If you have had your machine connected to the charger assembly for over 3.5 hours and continue to see the flashing green light, this could mean the machine isn't recharging correctly.

In order for us to diagnose which part is at fault we'd need to take you through some simple diagnostic checks when you have your machine to hand. You can reach our experts directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

DC31 not working light comes on when I pull the triger

Hi Robert, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC31's light comes on when you pull the trigger, but the machine itself doesn't run, it could mean that the battery needs charging. I would suggest connecting it to the charger and allowing it to recharge fully for 3.5 hours.

If you find that this doesn't resolve the issue we'd appreciate the opportunity to take you through some quick diagnostic checks. This will help us to determine what may be causing the fault. and what's needed to resolve it

You can reach our experts directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

      Dyson dc31 won't charge

Sounds like the charger is bad. It is 24vdc output, so you can check with a voltmeter. It probably blew the fuse inside since it isn't lighting the green charge light. There are replacement chargers for this for under $20.

My DC31 just stopped working while I was vacuuming my wood floor. Is only 2 mths. old. I bought this for the versatility so I don't have to lug my big Dyson up and down my stairs. The battery was

Don't overlook the obvious. My DC31 just stopped working when I was using it. No lights, no noise, nothing. After poking around for a a couple of minutes, I removed the battery and then re-inserted it. I gave it a good tap with the palm of my hand to make sure it was seated properly. Everything worked after that.
