As you rotate the control, you should feel a "notch" at dead center where left and right speakers are balanced. If channels are not balanced, you will have to rotate the control either left or right of center.

Pm 7000 marantz cuts out when I turn up the volume. Works well at lower volumes... tried other speakers and no issue? Is there a way to check the receiver itself?

If the device works on other speakers then it is probably working as it should. You need to check if the is an issue with the speakers that cause it to cut out. Make certain they are the right Ohms for the Marantz. Check the connections to them. It could be that a safety device is clicking in to protect them amp due to some overload problem, caused by the speakers themselves. It might even be one speaker that is playing up. Try testing one speaker at a time, by not having the other connected and the balance control only to the one connected.

Hello Sir, I recently got a Marantz receiver SR 66 from my father in law. I noticed that it does not has any sub input like current receiver does. I have a JVC mini hivi that I want to connect with...

I can't find a decent photo of the rear panel but it appears there MAY be a Pre-Out section in the dead center of the back. THAT set of ouputs is the only ones that would be volume-controlled by the SR66. You could slave any audio device from the stereo one and control volume centrally.

Any other output would be unaffected by the SR66's audio controls but at least the program would be available to downstream units (at full volume).

This receiver has no explicit support for a sub but many self-powered subs allow for that in the source equipment and would use speaker-level input. The unnamed sub would determine what it requires for input. Name it and/or find the manual.

It's unclear what you wish to do with the unnamed JVC device with "only optical digital out". It is the rare audio device that lacks some form of RCA analog output.

Any iPod or MP3 player at its most basic level is just an ordinary analog audio source.

For just listening, any audio device with a headphone/earbud output can be connected to any available analog Line Level input (except PHONO) with a simple adapter. They don't tell you that in the iPod manual because they want you to purchase expensive accessories like docking stations. You'll still have to control the music from the portable device. Oh well.

From what I've seen so far the Marantz manual is not available for free.

Bottom line: manuals explain everything and are indispensable.
