Unfortunately there is a calibration adjustment but it's not going to be that much. Sounds like a bad tstat. Either pull face off wall to stop unit or turn off at breaker until hot again temporarily. Remember to turn power off before changing tstat and take pictures or diagram of wiring. Good Luck!!
