Follow the instructions exactly. If it won't start, take out the spark plug to see if it is wet, or dry. If it is too wet, the motor may be flooded. If it is completely dry, you have to figure out why it's not getting gas. I am assuming you are pressing the bulb the recommended number of times, and that there is gasoline in the bulb, providing some resistance to your pushes with your thumb.

If the spark plug is very wet, place the base of the plug against a metal part of the motor, with the sparkplug wire attached to the plug, and pull the starter rope, looking to make sure that the plug has a spark. If it doesn't, that is the problem and it may be that the breaker point gap has to be adjusted or the capacitor (condenser) has gone bad. It is not easy for folks with the typical tools of a homeowner to fix either of these problems, but it can be done. If the spark is good, pull the starter about ten times with the plug out to clear out the excess gas, put the plug back in, then try to start it. Too much gas on the plug could indicate that you are pressing the primer bulb too many times or that the fuel adjustment is set too rich.

Dry out the plug before testing for spark.

You could have a clogged tube from the primer into the carb, but it also sounds like the fuel tank is overfilled.

You need to rebuild the carburetor. You will need to go to an outdoor power & equipment store of some kind to get a carburetor kit for your specific trimmer. It will come with various gaskets, (some of which you won't use), a needle valve, and a small screen that goes in the carb. Replace all old parts with new. New primer bulb is sold seperately. When you have the carb. apart, you will also need to clean the small ports with a Den Tek Brush (used for cleaning teeth). Use carb. cleaner when cleaning.
