Unfortunatey, it happens quite frequently, there is no one reason for it to do so.
The only solution is to replace it.
Over a number of years use, the glass looses it's properties, and this is what can happen.

I have never seen a ignition system powered by a battery, it is done through a solid state ignition module that creates the spark to lite the burners. I will need the manufacturer and the exact model number (located on a sticker or in the user guide booklet) of the oven to assist further. I also need to know if this is a US model. We are based in the USA so we can only access repair info for North American products in most cases.
