SOURCE: Microwave works with door open

If the top is open, the upper door switch should be open and the high voltage section should not be energized. That's the way it's *supposed* to work. But that buzzing is worrysome! Does the turntable turn during this condition? Does the inside light come on? How about the fan? If not, then I would doubt that it's cooking. If so, some models will do this. It's not uncommon to notice that the fan and light will try to come on for a split second when you shut the door. This would not indicate a problem. It has to do with the timing of the door switches and a replay on the board. If it's still under full warranty, it wouldn't hurt to call a GE-authorized servicer.

SOURCE: GE Advantium 120 Microwave fan stays on, off only when door open

Looking at the schematic in the service manual here, I would say relay RY6 on the small sub PCB (relay board) has shorted contacts.

That's the relay that runs both the fan and turntable.

It's possible that it may be a bad connection or driving component on that board, but in my experience, it's virtually always a stuck relay.

The part number on the relay as shown in the photo is hard to read, but it looks like "OJ-SH-112LM".

I should have one of these or I can point you to one if you want to contact me with the exact number.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

SOURCE: Ewave over the stove microwave fuse blows when I

The light is the only thing that comes on when you open door. You either have a shorted door switch (Micro switch) or a shorted bulb. You have either a shorted bulb or bad socket. From my experience, it's the bulb. Just because it may seem to start to come on when you open the door, it's most likely bad. At least it not expensive.

SOURCE: MIcrowave runs with the door open also

your door switch is mis-adjusted,furthermore the other safety switch on the door should have blown the power fuse in the unit, because by design for safety it produces a short circuit if door opens under operation,so if door was taken off and replaced it was not adjusted properly

SOURCE: Loose microwave door

My over the range microwave had a loose door, it sagged when it was open but you could lift it to close. Called repair person he said no it could not be fixed. You could see the bottom hinge was loose and slipping. I loosened 3 screws that holds the bottom on the microwave -you have to do this to change the light bulb also. The bottom hinge on the door was loose there was a hole there, so took a screw and nut to hold the hinge in place..I am a 70+year old woman-if I can you can.

Microwave oven door wont close

Most microwaves will have a spring loaded latch on the door. The likely issue is the clip for the spring has broken. Unplug it, put it on the benchtop and pry open the inside of the door. It's usually a soft plastic cover that with a gentle persuasion from a flat screwdriver will come off. Start above the latch and pry open as much ad needed. Locate the spring at the bottom, open up one of the fixing loops on the ends with long nose pliers and attach it to a fixed spot around the inside of the door. There are usually metal ribs inside the door and attach the other loop to the base of the latch

When you to start the microwave the screen tell you the door open even though the door is close.

you need to adjust the door travel adjustment on this micro-switch,if its open and registering open the control board will not let the unit start due to R.F. radiation safety concerns, you should adjust the door and after it starts to operate, have the R.F. leakage at the door checked to make sure your safe and till so don't stand too close till its certified so

LG LMVM2055: Cooked itself?

First you will need to answer a few quick questions between yourselves.
  1. Do you have life insurance?
  2. Is it enough for the wife and kids to survive on
  3. Whats the number for 911
After you answer all these questions, then pick up the microwave, and take it for a long drive.
There are bits inside there that will happily kill you days after it has been turned off. (some even weeks)
For the cost of a replacement in this case, it's not worth it.
