My tv was working when I must have touched a button on the remote and the video went off. I tried to turn the power off and then on but all that happens is that the power light blinks. I just bought the tv used and I do not have the manual. I do know that it is very heavy but it is not a flat screen. I'm sorry that I do not have the serial # with me.

Were there any indications of problems prior to the storm? If not, I'll need to lok up this one for the specifics. Do you intend to repair this yourself?

This is due to switches malfuction due to corrosion in switch and dust accumulated in the switch. Since you rarely used switch now after failure of remote of remote control you tried to operate the switch. Another thing you said did"t get picture, maybe memory problem is there. This can be sorted out by the technician only.
If you can not turn on TV set with the power button on the TV its not a standby problem as this would by pass the standby. Theres most likly, on a set of this age, top have a poiwer regulator problem and is going to need a trained tech to assist you in this repair.
