1. If you mean speaker being mute, get in to control panel and sound and audio device.
2. If you mean the sound adapter is being disabled, go to control panel choose system. choose hardware and go to device manager. look for your audio adapter, right click and choose enable.

sounds like power supply capasiters or transformer. but most likely a cold solder joint in the same area. heat the player with your hairdryer for a few minutes and then see if it comes on faster. if not freezer is in order. freeze it and try it again. If either of the temp tests work it is a cold solder joint.
