Question about GE GSS25XSRSS 36" 25.4 Cu. Ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator w/ Tall LightTouch Dispenser, FrostGuard T...
I can see lots of ice on the back in the freezer part and the freezer part is not cold enough to keep the food freezed.
turn dial to 0 which shutdown the frige. let the ice melt out then turn on it again. it works good for about 7 days (cold enought). the the ice built up again on the back panel of freezer.
i would suspect the defrost died. not sure how to check
Yes you have a defrost problem for sure. You will have to access the condensor coil in the back of the freezer compartment to get to the components. You will see a defrost thermostat(round thingy)wired to a heater element either solid black or encased in glass tube. Tubes are easy to see a burnout. You need to turn on defrost timer by rotating the crew slot clockwise until you hear a loud click. You are now in defrost. If heaters do not work then jump out the defrost thermostat and if they come on then thermostat is the culprit. Hope this helps.
