It is not uncommon for me to give people advice where they can try something else before going to the doctor... but you are NOT one of them! CaretAkers need a B complex time release vitamin and someone to relieve them from time to time. They also need to join a support system and to eat and sleep well. Unfortunately all of these do not happen. I hVe seen many caregivers pass away BEFORE the person they were taking cAre of. Cancer often jumps in and ta kes advNtage of people whose immune systems get weak. I am sorry you lost your beloved pet. However, those kind of stresses tend to affect the upper bp number more than the lower number. You MUST go to the doctor and you MUST get your blood pressure reduced or else there is the very REAL possibility that you will have a stroke. Ask yourself this: if you hVe a stroke... who will care for YOU Nd who will care for the one you are taking care of?

SOURCE: Blood pressure reading 150/76. Manual Blood pressure 130/72

A monitor using Hg is only a valid monitor reading. Most electronic devices produce approximate results and are mostly good for taking several readings daily and obtaining a mean daily BP. Device calibration appears to be not accessible to the the user. Also, depending on age & condition of your dad, sequential reading must take place after elapse of enough time for circulation to be at steady state in the arm again, or if you immediately after a measurement make another, even with the same monitor you will obtain a different result.

SOURCE: Samsung Blood Pressure monitor model

Usually getting these devices to be sold in parts are next to impossible as most of these devices are personally used so in most situations they are disposed of as one. Personally when i am in need of such items i surf the web for fairly used units which often come with these components but with poorly functioning engines and order them. Best search sites for these would be google, ebay, amazon and craigslist. Happy searching.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

Sounds like a pretty decent blood pressure to me. Of course, see a doctor if you're concerned.

What is a normal blood pressure for a 72 year old male

talk with your doctor as blood pressure readings vary between patients, weights , age and health conditions
always have your blood pressure done by the doctor as that will give a record of any variations that could be harmful
at this point it seems slightly high but the bigger concern is the diabetes and what ever the heart condition is
again consult with your doctor and get a proper diagnosis

    How to control blood pressure?

diet alone will not drop blood pressure
relaxation , rest , moderate exercise under the doctors advice
a very good reducer of heart blockages from cholesterol and the like is plain nuts -- almonds brazil, hazel, cashews, peanuts etc
graze on them whenever you feel a bit hungry
I strongly suggest that you get to see a heart specialist to find the reason for such high blood pressure as your readings are borderline heart attach levels

Have a CVS blood pressure unit BP3MU1-1E. The cuff is too large for my 95 yr. old mother. How do I get a smaller cuff? The stores have none!!

Switch to the leg. You can take the pressure on the calf or the thigh. The thigh is easier. Place the cuff closer to the knee and if the sensor can be seen on the units cuff put that under the leg close to the knee joint. Inflate as normal. The reading may be higher than you expect by 10% So if it says 140/80 it would be 126/72
