My dog chewed on the cord and I was wondering if I can just replace the cord or would I just have to get a whole new unit? If I can replace the cord, where can I get it from?

Testimonial: "So when I bought the house, the previous owners left the wrong operating instructions so I've had to look it up online since I'm not near it right now. But when I look it up it's like model number AKW15CR61 (but they have it as a thru the wall air conditioner unit)"

    Who makes it then?

  • Anonymous Apr 28, 2017

It's an Arctic King, but the manual they left us with is a Soleus Air

That cord is a high amperage cord and so it has to be replaced with the same type in order to not over heat. You can get cords like that from home depot and install it yourself BUT it means taking the unit out of the installed position and taking the covers off. You could call an HVAC company to come and check it for you and do the work.

Nice doggy! A regular power cord will do nicely and cost less money than one specifically for your unit - of course, it has special connectors then you have no choice.

My dog chewed through the power cord. Can I replace this part without having to buy a whole new one? It's not mine someone was letting me borrow it.

You should be able to find a replacement at a hardware store. Take the plug end with you to get any assistance in determining the cord wire guage.

Try checking with an appliance parts supplier or a distributor of your air conditioner.

My dog chewed the plug off the power cord, is there a way to replace it. I love my dc-17 dyson animal

Yes. You can splice the cord together. But when you pull it it will want to separate, so when you splice it add something ...like a wire tie..super glue it to both sides before you tape the splice. If it is the whole cord you will have to take it apart and make new stripped ends and just remove the old piece..put the new end on. This is not as easy as it sounds, I have done it but I am handy with tools and a little common sense.A handy man can fix it for you.

How to replace electrical cord on Dyson ball vacuum cleaner. Our puppy chewed it.

Depending on where it has been chewed, you may not need to replace the whole of your cord. Ask your local electrical supplier, or possibly somewhere like B & Q, if they have an 'inline' plug and socket to repair your existing cord.this would resemble the type of plug and socket used to connectd the power chord to a lawnmower, except you would not be buying the sealed type. Then you could simply cut out the chewed part of your ccord, and fit the two new ends, one the plug and the other the socket. It is no more difficlt than fitting a new domestic 13 amp plug on a cable. It is also a safe but much cheaper solution, so you should save money too.

Dog chewed on the power cord, how do I replace it?

I would try to find a repair shop to replace it as bissell does not currently offer replacement power cords (atleast not on their website) if your power cord is only chewed in one place you could always just splice it back together and use some electrical tape. sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Dog chewed cord on bissell model 6579-2 how do I replace it?

You can cut the bad section of wire out of the cord, cut the insulation on the cord to get to the wires. Match your colors, strip the insulation from the individual wires and twist together. Wrap each wire with electrical tape (making sure no wire is exposed, can be a fire hazard), then wrap the cord with electrical tape. The cord will be a little shorter, but should work fine.

My dog chewed through the power cord (luckily unplugged). Are there replacement parts available and I can't seem to find out to detach the cord from the unit.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. There are replacement parts available for the replacement of the power cord and to check your owner’s manual to see the schematics of the replacement of the cord. You can check with your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or you can call cust serv @ Bissell @ the phone # listed below. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
