SOURCE: Error code E 04 was

most error codes are to do with the main board or a switch board and ussually need to be replaced. If you have the manual for it they normally have the error codes and there meaning in them. If not in the manual you should ring your nearest repairer and give them the make model and error cdes and they can ussually tell you what it is from.

SOURCE: doesn't work get the code HS ?

check your filters and coils for blockages , both these codes are pressure related , if the filter is blocked the system will not create the desired environment for the refrigerant to work properly as it is directly related to increasing and decreasing temperature .

Control panel lights on whynter 12000 btu portable air conditioner .can't read some numbers

This is due to the detrioting condition of the display, sometimes an even lite press with fingers on the display may help. This happens due to loss of contacts inside due to poor quality of display or aging.

How to know the tons of old ac unit from the model no?

36 is equal to 36000 btu. To find the ton divide by 12000 btu. 12000 BTU is a ton of refrigeration. This is a 3 ton unit.

Maybe you have it set on dehumidifier mode instead of air conditioning mode. That happened to me with mine too. And turn off your timer (if it has one) or it will shut off after a while and you will forget why.

Tempstar 5000

The 48 before the VKD in the model number stands for 48000, BTU. For refrigeration, 1 Ton = 12000 BTU. Therefore 48000 BTU / 12000 (1 Ton) = 4 Tons

Window kit dimentions i have a window 18 inch wide

The portable AC units generally have a customizable, exhaust hose window, termination kit that comes with the unit.. In other words it can be cut to fit. The one that comes with the unit will fit casement windows, as well as sash windows.

To further assist you, I have included a link to the Owner's/Installation Manual for the model you referenced. You may download and print it if you like.

How many tons is my unit?

divide your btu rating by 12000. (1 ton = 12000 btu)
For example - a 24,000 BTU Air Conditioner is a 2 ton unit. 24000 divided by 12000 = 2
A 18000 btu air condtioner is a 1 1/2 ton unit 18000 divided by 12000 = 1 1/2
you can find out your btu rating by looking on the tag on your unit.

Hi, I am going to purchase a 12000 btu 1.5Hp portable aircondioner unit for my living room of around 42 m^2 (7 metres wide and 6 metres in length). I am wondering if this unit is suitable for the room?...

Hello =D
12000 BTU will cool approximately 450 to 550 square feet. That's around 137 to 167 m/2.

Unless your name is Beelzebub and the room your trying to cool is really really really really south (or in this case down). =D <that's not two horns is it? ";-} That should be more then enough to keep everything cool.

Good luck and I hope this helps.
