Question about Brother LS-1217 Mechanical Sewing Machine

Thread Breaks I have a Brother Sewing Machine Model VX757. I have not used in I don't know how long. The thread keeps on breaking. It doesn't matter what setting I put it on. I am not sure whether I am threading it correctly or not. Do I need the manuel? I don't know what I did with it. Someone told me that the thread was too old. That was the reason for it breaking often.

The best information I ever received was from my Father-In-Law years ago. He said 90% of the sewing repairs he made for his customers was 1) Replace the old needle with a new one 2) Replace the thread with brand new thread 3) Clean out the lower bobbin section and the feed dogs 4) Check that the tension in the bobbin case is correct and finally 5) Re-thread the machine paying close attention to clicking the thread into each guide and the upper bobbin section between the plates. All of my machines are good old basic machines (no fancy computer models) so I hope this helps you.

Dear Sir / Madam, please get your book out and follow the threading instructions very carefully. I am certain that is your only problem.
Kindest Regards,
Cookey.

After threading the machine, start to sew and the thread breaks it seems that it gets caught in step 4 in Threading The Machine in the manual.

Not knowing the make & model of the machine limits out ability to help. What is Step 4? When threading the top thread, ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot. Verify that the thread path is correct--mis-threading is a frequent cause of broken thread.

Why does my thread keep breaking on my brother ce4000? The machine is 100% threaded correctly new needle properly wound bobbin, I just don't know what could be wrong with it.

Could be a multitude of things. Use only good quality thread--no old or bargain bin threads. Try a different brand of thread--some machines prefer certain brands over others. The needle and thread should be compatible--ie needle eye shouldn't be too small for thread weight. Burr catching the thread and breaking it. Upper tension too tight.

Remove the upper thread, RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Verify the thread is not looped incorrectly in the thread path, like around a thread guide or around the spool pin. Is the thread snagging on the thread spool itself? Do you see the thread tightening as you sew and eventually it breaks? This indicates it is catching somewhere between the needle and spool. Is it shredding at the needle eye? This indicates the needle eye is not suitable for the thread being used.

Watch where the thread is breaking. This will sometimes give you a clue where the problem exists.

Why does my thread keep breaking on my brother ce4000?

Change the thread in the bobbin and then try...then change the top thread only and try...helps to see where the problem could be...change the needle again and get it from a different pack. Sometimes needles from the same pack can have the same problem( burrs, nicks, filings, etc...) that are impossible to see with the ***** eye. Oh and buy brand new thread...we tend to think that all thread is good to use and it is NOT. Old thread looses elasticity, frays, and breaks constantly. It may 'look' good, but is a sewists greatest enemy!! Good luck!

Top thread keeps breaking

This sounds like a backwards needle. Take out the needle and when you re-insert it back in, make sure that put the flat side to the back.

Breaking threads... you so about an inch and it

It sound like it is not threaded properly or the tension is too tight, You should be able to pull on the thread manually without breaking it
look for your manual here

My lowerlooper thread keeps breaking. I can only

The lowerloop thread kept getting cut by the upperlooper.....I rethreaded the machine in order and then made sure that the lowerlooper thread was UNDER the part of the machine that makes the looks the loopings (silver part that comes to a point on the right side of the needles...sorry I don't know what to call it) and the upperloop was ON TOP of the same part.....it started working great. I actually have very nice tight stitches now.

Morse 6300, the thread keeps breaking every attempt i make

Change your needle, make sure the needle is new. and change your thread. Use a high quality thread and rethread the machine carefully, following all the guides. Also, check your tensions. I bet it is the needle tho.

Brother Embroidery machine thread keeps breaking

It doesn't matter so much the thickness of the stabilizer but more a matter of it being taut like a drum and the proper stabilizer for the fabric you're using. Couple of reasons the thread breaks...the thread gets caught on the edge of the spool in the crack where the thread originally starts, you're not using the right size spool cap or the upper thread is wrapping around the spool pin. When I use my 170 for embroidering I always use the vertical spool pin to eliminate this problem. Try it and let me know how you make out.
