This is usually caused when the phone has a problem communicating with your wireless carrier. This can be lack of reception or the phone has the wrong settings to communicate with your wireless carrier. Try restarting your phone with the charger plugged in. If this does not solve your problem, then please contact your wireless carrier and they will take it from there.
