How do I connect Bluetooth capable hearing aids to smart TV?

Hi Gary:
My hearing aid provider (Connect Hearing) provided my unit. It is paired to my hearing aids and is plugged into the audio output.
May I suggest that you review yours with your provider?
Odds are you'll be set up a lot faster than if I were to try to understand what you're working with.
All the best.

My right hearing aid is 4 momths old and it stopped working

The Bolero model requires clear passage of sound through the tube that connects it to the dome/tip that fits into your ear. To determine if the tube is blocked, with a good battery inserted and the battery door closed, unscrew the top of the tube where it connects to the hearing aid. If you cup the hearing aid in your hand, it should whistle/feedback. If not, there is something wrong with the hearing aid. If it does whistle, your audiologist should have provided you with a thin, flexible plastic piece (often green) and instructed you how to unscrew the tube at the top of the hearing aid to run the plastic piece through the tube, all the way out the other end of the dome/tip. If that piece can travel the entire tube easily, then sound should be able to. In any case, a Phonak hearing aid has at least a one year manufacturer warranty (a Q90 likely has a three year) and they will pay for shipping both ways to fix it. You need to send it via an audiologist, though.

Can't get my TV listening device to work

It looks like you may have a Sennheiser 840S. There is a t-coil option, however, you can plug in any standard headset to the port on the side and use the device without your hearing aids. It's port #5 on page 2.

Siemens Pure 501 RIC Serial No RW52119 The above unit is in the right ear and periodically does not produce any sound. The RIC cord has been replaced once and still the problem persists. Pushing...

It could be a receiver issue, the cord, it might be a faulty receiver or alternatively it could be plugged with wax or badly affected by moisture. Receiver issues are relatively common with Siemens, if you have cleaned out the tip and are confident it is not a moisture issue, the receiver has failed. it is an easy fix and your audi should be able to change it out on the spot.

My mother in law is very deaf in one ear and has poor hearing in the other. How can I tell if her own hearing is at fault or her hearing aid battery needs changing or there is some other fault causing her...

I have a similar issue with my 86 year old mother-in-law and her hearing aids. Depending on how long they are worn/turned ON, determines how long the battery in each one will last. In my mother-in-laws case, she waits to long to change the batteries or doesn't keep the volume turned up high enough. So, in her case, the battery(s) get weak, before she realizes it. The other thing that is most important is when we age our body (ears in this case) physically change and the hearing aid(s) that were originally fitted several years before, don't fit as well as they should. I am also convinced that their hearing continues to deteriorate and they should be tested and fitted with a new hearing appliance, as needed.

The down side to this, is that hearing aids are not inexpensive. So, if Medicare, Medicaid or their own private insurance want cover at least part of the cost, most people don't want to pay for new ones. Or as my mother-in-law says, "Oh, they're working alright." When in fact, they're not. My wife and I can tell by the volume on her TV. When you can hear it from one floor to another, her hearing aids aren't working right.

I find that my BTE open fit hearing aid solves a lot of problems but the fitting seems to creep away from the ear drum making it difficult to hear. I find I am continually pusshing the tube back to where...

There are a couple of solutions that you can try, ask your audi to fit a sport lock or change the tip he is using. If that does not work, think about investing in a set of custom made tips. A sport lock is a piece of plastic that attaches to the tubing, when you place the tip in your ear this piece of plastic is folded around the inside of your outer ear along the bowl.It aids retention of the tip.
