5 pin harness has the following wires on a Realistic radio cassette car player: 1. Red - Power 2. Black - Negative ground 3. Green - ? 4. Yellow - ? 5. White - ?

Hi Marc,
What you have is a "common ground" car stereo which means all speaker negatives will be chassis (earth) ground. The following is a common wiring diagram for vintage aftermarket car stereo.
Constant 12V / Memory Keep Alive - yellow

Accessory - red

Ground - black

Right front speaker(+) - green

Left front speaker(+) - white

Even though I am 99.9% positive this is correct, please use at your own risk as I cannot be responsible if you fry your unit.

Good Luck!

I bought a mtx terminator amp model no TNA251 600 watt and two subs installed. It works good for few days but now its not cranking up proper bass and sound. It always has three solid red lights everytime....

does it do this all the time when you turn it on? any sound at all?
provide more information, but my guess its that the amp is blown. replace it or sell it for parts.

Tc 8001 red light

on some amps there is a duel light. red and green usually. red means it is in protect mode or you didn't hook up your remote wire. if in protect mode, it could mean a number of things. did you hook it up with speakers and everything?

If none of the lights are coming on for the amp then the amp is not getting power and/or ground. Check the connections. Check the fuses. Or the amp is no good.

You may have touching speaker leads going into the amp. Make sure the tinsel is not touching across the speaker inputs on the amp. Also check your ground. It should be solidly connected to the vehicle chassis in a paint-free location. Finally, make sure there are no exposed speaker wires touching the vehicle chassis.

Rewire your stereo cables as such:

Red- positive - battery
Black - ground - chassis
Remote (Yellow) - ignition switch

The "LINE OUT" should go to your SUB-WOOFER.

The while-lined wires paired with the solid colored wires are either your Front LR and/or Rear L/R.

I have an eclipse cd5425. the unit shuts off as soon as i turn up volume. then comes back on. how can i keep unit on? thank you.

sounds like you have a speaker problem. Disconnect the wiring harness from the eclipse and check the speaker leads with an multi-meter. Each speaker should read something close to 4 Ohms resistance. If 1 or more of the speakers read 2 Ohms or less, the radio is going into protection when you turn it up. You would need to replace the speaker/s. The only other thing I can think of is the power connections. Double check that the yellow and red wires are a solid connection to 12 volt power (yellow=constant, red=switched). Also be sure that the radio's black wire is going to chassis ground, there may not be a ground in the harness or it may be only getting ground through the antenna connection. Good luck

I bought a MTX Terminator amp and the light is red when I turn it on, but it works. Red usually means protect mode but it works fine. Should the light be red or green?

all depends on that amp... if there was an issue it wouldnt work, and the light would be by a protect symbol... if its just red next to the power symbol i say no issue.

Can't get my amp to work right

Recheck each and every wire connected to the amp. If everything is wired correctly, then you either have a shorted speaker, or a shorted pair of speaker wires, or one of the speaker wires is touching another grounded location, or the amp is blown.

That's about as far as you can take it, unfortunately.

Double and triple check all you wiring. EVERY wire! Don't assume anything about any single wire.
