SOURCE: need help wiring new pressure switch for craftsman air compressor

Assuming that you are wiring for 115v. Lets start with the ground. The cord that attaches to the wall outlet will have three wires, green, black , and white. Insert the cord thru one of the openings of the pressure switch and attach the green wire to the ground screw. Next look very closely at the contacts and notice that they are arrainged in pairs. There is a small brass bar with two contacts that completes the circuit for each line. Start with L1 and attach white wire from cord, then attach white wire from motor to the screw terminal that small brass bar bridges to (should be T1). Next attach black wire from cord to L2 and black wire from motor to remining screw. Remember that the small brass bar with two contacts is the bridge and simply connects white to white and black to black. Enjoy

SOURCE: A DIRECT DRIVE COMPRESSOR & THE PRESSURE SWITCH IS FAULTY

STOP! Your pressure switch is doing what it is supposed to, but the tank check valve is leaking. This valve is usually at the tank where the line from the compressor head enters the tank. The small tube line from the pressure switch probably also goes to this valve. You'll need to clean or replace it.

How do I change wiring on 1080 motor from ac to dc . And what do I use for speed control?

You can't. You buy AC motors to work from a mains supply, or DC motors to work off a battery. You can't alter the wiring to change one to the other.

Powermatic 66 wiring problem

Simple solution: switch two of the wires. Doing so will reverse the direction of the motor. You can switch it at the motor or on the electrical plug end.

you must have wired the new pressure switch incorrectly .when the pressure switch opens it will release the head pressure so your compressor must be running with the pressure switch contacts open should be 4 connections 2 marked motor which is from your compressor and 2 marked line which is your power coming in

How do I wire my 60 gal 3 hp IR commpressor? What size wire, what size breakers, and where on the motor do I attach my wires. Motor says 15 amp, 220 volt. Thanks, Clint

I would use a # 10 wire size with a 30 amp breaker. The motor should already wired to the pressure switch unless it has a mag starter. If no mag starter incoming power should go to pressure switch not motor. If unit has a mag starter incoming power should go to top of mag starter.

Jamie It sounds like you have a check valve thats bad or possibly high amps causing the over load to trip. If its a check vale you should have air blowing from the copper line that attaches to the pressure switch. Also you can disconnect the tube at the hp head. If its blowing air the check valves needs replacing. Now if the over load is tripping you will need to check the amp draw with an amp meter. A 7.5 hp motor should be pulling approximately 35 to 40 amps if its single phase 230 volt. if not depending on voltage the amps will be less. Pull the disconnect before Removing the starter box cover. Find the bottom of the overload where the motor leads connect. just above will be some metal strips that have a number like E68 on them. There will also be a sticker in the starter box cover that will have numbers like E68 and a corresponding amp range. Your max amp draw should correspond to the amp range in the cover. If amps are out (higher) of range you need to install larger heaters in the overload. Ex. you May need E69 or E70 overload heaters instead of E68 heaters. Hope this helps you

I need a wire diagram for a high voltage Baldor motor CAT # 054180 79151 connect to 440VAC it's a 40HP, RPM 3525 , 3PH and it's SPEC# 40F97Z22 please help

Normal wiring for this type of 9 lead motor to 440VAC is
Connect #4 to #7 Connect #5 to #8 Connect #6 to #9
Connect supply phase A to #1 Connect supply phase B to #2 Connect supply phase C to #3
Can you confirm the CAT and SPEC numbers? They do not show up on the Baldor site. If they are correct as listed, you need to call the Baldor help line and find out if this is a special motor.

you need to run this compressor on a cooker trip (ei:30 amp) it pulls far to much power for a house hold trip (ie:15 amp) even if close to a 13 amp plug, at 375 feet???? thats some loss in the wire, over 50%!!!!! if it trys to start on the low loop.s it pops your trips!! right? hook it up to your cooker trip, but its still a very long hick for your power to get to,,
ps,,,this compresor never come with a three pin plug on it did it? like 3.7 hp = 4000 watt's app at the plug!
you could try puting a bigger starter (cap) on the motor that will hold more amp's for starting up on
and it will give your motor a longer,,,kick start,,,
talk to your frendly sparky first! ("caps," can and will kill you, if you tuch a charged up one!!!! so dont play with them) hope this helps you out

How to wire a 3 phace 5 hp baldor motor

the neutral or white is not used. if the fourth wire is a ground then it goes to the motor frame. if it is a dual voltage motor then here is the wiring: for 240 volt 3 phase connect 4-5-6 together and tape, 3-9 goes on L1, 2-8 together goes on L2, 1-7 together goes on L3. To reverse direction swap any two line wires. For 480 volts 3 phase: L1 goes on T1, L2 goes on T2, L3 goes on T3. Connect together T6-T9 and tape, connect T5-T8 and tape, connect T4-T7 and tape. again to reverse direction swap two line wires.
