your pressure valve is not the right psi setting or you have a pressure leak somewhere, probably a line, tighten it at the pump, or perhaps the water is leaking at the pump making it click on better check it out especially if its in the crawlspace could be flooding very slowly, but more than likely you have a leak of air somewhere in the line, like a drip somewhere outside faucet perhaps somewhere it is, also go to the turn vales that supply the water to the house and close them off and then run all the water from the lines from the farthest point in your house to the well the farthest away in other words oh and throw the breaker too after then when the lines are empty throw the breaker on first before turning on the flow valves, but of course don't wait too long see if the pump brings pressure to the house valves that supply check for leaks from the well pump to the supply valves, once the pressure is brought to the main supply its easier to see where the problem is.

Our goulds pumps j5s is running very loud after we replaced our sewage ejection pump last week. Could these problems be connected?

Those pumps last a long time. I do not think the problems are connected. I am assuming you are pumping water up from the pump. The pump has a check valve in the discharge that may not be closing. Cleaning that should solve your problem. Be sure water will pass through the discharge line into the drain.

Shallow water pump keeps stopping

new pump --not big enough for the job
old pump --motor windings problem, faulty start run capacitor
I suspect that as the motor is 1/2 hp if will run good when there is a need for water but under pressure the pressure switch is set to high so the motor overloads and gets hot

Yes, most motors are thermally protected. It is usually bi-metallic, and resets itself.
