Ipod to computer software failure left my ipod doomed! pleasehelp

I just recently lost my old computer. So the only remaining music I had left was on my actual iPod. So I went out to best buy and purchased ''Tunes Tool 2.0'' (not knowing it's bad repuation and not knowing it actually doesn't work with iTouch.'' Anywho, i've done my research and this is what I have gathered. When using software for iPod to Computer what it does is it changes your iPod into a storage media disk. But if you have an iTouch they cannot be turned into a storage device. So that ''tunes tool'' software was useless. So i returned it. I then googled some software and tried a few and all of them didn't work. The last one i tried was called ''ImTOO iPod to Computer'' software. I tried it. It actually worked... i was able to bring up my ipod on the software and attempt to place it into itunes. Come to find out none of the music was placed into itunes and my ipod was left messed up! The software altered my iPod! SO now it doesnt work in itunes at all! it will show up but a message appears saying i need to restore it! But i can't since all my music is only on my ipod! So i was just wondering if anyone smart out there might know what this software did to my ipod! my ipod still shows up in my computer and all that. I think the software was somehow actually able to turn my ipod into a storage media drive but it never switched it back to the ipod settings or something. So is it some type of file or folder i need to find and fix or retype the correct file or folder name so that itunes can read my ipod again or what?! or if you know for sure, am i just doomed and i just lost all my music? :( PLEASE HELP! IF YOU NEED ANYMORE INFORMATION I'LL BE MORE THAN GLAD TO HELP YOU SO THAT YOU MAY HELP ME MORE EASILY AND QUICKLY! i know a lot of other people have had similar problems so just hit me up if you have a question about something and i will see what i can do! my AIM is: wadupdoc746 Thanks!

hey i tried your suggestion with the reset of the iPod. My iPod came back on normally and i didn't lose any music. But, when i tried to open it in iTunes it still said i need to restore it. so... is there any other kind of way i can fix this problem? I don't even know what exactly is making it not "readable" in iTunes but i can still update my apps using wi-fi in my house....

My solution to your problem is this. From my understanding it appears your iPod is in disk mode. Im going to show you how to reset your iPod touch without erasing in anything on your iPod hold the home button and power button until the iPod Resets then let go as soon as you see the apple logo and the iPod should return to its normally state with everything there as long as that software hasn't ruined your music

Glad that work my suggestion would be is to get and ipod music ripper i have one for the ipod touch and dosn't require itunes to do it and it will copy all your music off your ipod onto your computer in one foldur then you can restore after youv saved your music from your ipod all give you the website url name and the program is free the url is http://ipodrip.com/ and download the program make sure you keep itunes from connect to your ipod and trying to restore to do that just close itunes and cancel any attepts to sync the program is called ipod rip

  • Lrobby14 Jul 27, 2009

because apple is so strick they don't allow you to synchronized your iPod with multiple itunes that's why your new computer keeps trying to restore your iPod its to keep people from sharing music cause if people were able to shre music they would loss money

  • Lrobby14 Jul 27, 2009

thats how it should work after the tranfer in wont erase your ipod so youll be able to chenk to make sure you have all your songs before you restore your ipod

How to download a music cd onto the nano ipod

install iTunes on your computer if not already done so. open iTunes. put the CD in your CD drive of your computer - iTunes will ask if you want to add this CD to your library. Choose yes. plug your ipod nano into your computer USB while iTunes is still open and you see it appear as a device in iTunes. highlight the songs you just added to your library (choose Recently Added on left hand side then highlight them on right hand side) and then drag them onto the ipod device in left hand side. songs will be transferred to ipod.

The only valid tool for loading music on an iPod is iTunes.
Download the latest version Here.

Once you have installed iTunes, plug in your iPod and it should mount.
Apple has replaced all the old software with iTunes.
Good Luck!

For some reason, itunes will not let you do it, but there is a different software out there that you can download that will let you do it. Go to this website and download this software: http://ipod-to-computer.com/
This should work for you.

30g ipod rockbox wont sync with itunes after doom install

If you look at the Rockbox documentation, there is a way to reboot your iPod into the original iPod firmware and use the original interface as well as having the ability to boot into the Rockbox firmware.
The Rockbox firmware is great if you want more options for transfer and skins and so on, but it is not as easy to use as the stock iPod interface.
You can also refer to the documentation that will show how to remove Rockbox and go back to the original Apple software. I ran Rockbox for a while but it was more or a pain in the **** than I cared to deal with so I uninstalled it.
Worst case is you can do a full restore in iTunes that will restore the iPod to factory, but it will wipe the music you have loaded. Hope you have a backup.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
