Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Tank fills. Agitator starts working for about 1 min but slowly and weak with a buzzing sound coming from the back of the washer. Agitator stops completely and buzzing/clicking sound gets louder. NOTE: I have recently replaced the clutch coupler between the motor and clutch.

Sounds to me like the transmission is broken when this happens the normal sign is a broken clutch coupler

1 Unplug the washing machine, and turn off the water supply to the machine. If necessary, remove the water hoses from the back of the washing machine because they may be in the way of the access panel. 2 Check that the agitator is seated correctly by opening the lid of the washing machine. If it's loose, pop off the top of the agitator--if there is one--and tighten the bolt that holds the agitator in place. Or, in some models, simply pull straight up and then reseat the agitator. 3 Remove the access panel located in the back of the washing machine by unscrewing the screws holding it in place. This allows access to the drive motor. 4 Press on the drive belt that works the agitator. If the belt moves more than 3/4 inch, tighten the belt to fix the spinner problem. If the belt is worn or cracked, replace the belt. 5 Replace the drive motor, if tightening or replacing the drive belt doesn't fix the agitator. Purchase a new drive motor at a wholesale retailer. Disconnect wiring, remove screws holding motor in place and insert new motor. Screw into place, and connect wiring. 6 Check for any black substance leaking under the washing machine. This might indicate a clutch problem, if the washing machine spinner is not working. Contact a professional repairman to replace the clutch

Agitator no longer moving

sounds like you may have burned out the lid switch. if it is not working the timer thinks the lid is not closed and will not advance.

Agitator starts at begining of cycle before washer is full

Please be carful as running the agitator without enough water will overheat and kick out the motor, however it should be ok when it resets itself.
Yes, the machine should stop agitating when you lift the lid so this too is part of the problem.
After looking at the print I can only suggest that the cam contacts in the timer ( contacts 12 and 14) that start the motor are burned and stuck together.

My washer fills VERY slowly and will not stop filling after cycle

It sounds like the water inlet valve is stuck partially open and needs to be replaced. It's located on the back of the machine where the hoses attach.

It sounds as if your motor is locking up. Check under the front lower panel, snd see if there is water leaking into the motor, the motor simply seizes, and needs aspot of grease. You may also need to reprime the washer. To prime, Slowly advance the timer at start-up, After a few clicks, you will here the water valve open and start to fill the tub, then let the washer do it's thing.

Maybe. Sounds like the motor is not agitating in the other direction??? There is a controller on this type of machine which handles the starting...direction of the motor..this is by far the most common for your description.
next would be the timer or transmission.
to check trans..grab top lip of bowl it should be locked in both directions. tilt machine back..you should be able to spin the pulley in both directions it not its the trans
I'm sorry bout the flow of this...not used to doing it like this...think i'm slowly getting better????

Agitator always moving

The inner tub on some machines does rotate very slowly while filling to assist with the even distibution of the load. If the agitator is turning back & forth while in fill mode, you could have a timer or transmission problem. You need a tech.
