GE Profile Spectra Electric Oven Self clean...

I ran the self clean oven. While it was running I started to notice a brown discoloration on the top of the oven door about 1-2 inches by 2-3 inches. I assume that this is a burn mark. About 5-10 minutes after the cycle completed, an F7 error started to occur. I also noticed that the keypad was not working correctly (couldn't set the clock; buttons weren't responding when pushed, 7 comes up when I push 2, etc). One other piece of background info: I have experienced in the past year or so a problem with 7 coming up when I push 2 and have just ignored and worked around it. I unplugged the stove, turned the circuit breaker off, unplugged the ribbon, cleaned the ribbon, and put it all back together. The F7 error has not occurred after I've done all this. The keypad appears to be working fine, although I haven't fully tested it. My questions are these: what is the potential root cause(s) for the burn mark on the oven door? Is my keypad or control failing & requiring replacement? And, what mechanism/part(s) control the oven door to lock and seal shut for self cleaning?
