SOURCE: Whirlpool dryer model LEQ8800JQ won't start when push start butto

I posted today (Jan 2, 2009) that I had same problem. Handyman tested for blown thermal fuse, etc and everything was fine. He said I have to replace the timer switch .. well guess what - I fidgeted with the start button (on/off) hard a few times while simultaneously pressing & releasing door switch and it did the trick. In my case the problem was most likely with the start button. Dryer is working fine now!

SOURCE: Whirlpool gold ultimate care II dryer shuts off

I am assuming this is a gas dryer and it gets hot to start then gas goes off? if so this is a problem with the saftey valve coils, this website will instruct you how to replace them.

SOURCE: my Whirlpool Ultimate Care II dryer does not heat

There's no heat If your dryer doesn't heat, check these: Power from the house Heating element Thermal fuse Wiring Power from the house Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected. Heating element Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable. Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.) Wiring A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

Dryer wont work

Probably have an open fuse. take off the back and by the exhaust is a skinny white fuse. jump the wires together and see if dryer will work. Replace it if so.

Dryer has started to make a loud sqealing when it starts and gets up to speed, the kind of sound a loose fan belt makes on a car, and now just makes a buzzing sound when the button is pushed but dosen't...

If you push the start button and you here a buzzing sound, This sounds like the motor is bad.

Somthing you can try and this might not work. but open the dryer door and turn the drum a littel bit then close the door and try to start it. If it starts running again then you have hit a bad spot on the motor.

If it just still just makes the buzzing noise then the motor is most likley bad.

I have a whirlpool gold ultimate care II heavy duty gas dryer. When the dial is set on any setting you can hear the motor ticking. When I push the start button I get nothing. Any ideas???

You are probably hearing the timer count down, which means the timer is working right. This sounds more like your start switch is out. If you email or callus with your model number, we'll be sure to get the right parts out to you rigth away so you can get this repaired. We look forward to hearing back from you soon. Hope this answers your question.

Dryer belt installation

To install a a belt you will need a puddy knife a star screwdriver 1/4 or 5/16 nut driver and a good memery.First you must remove the lint screen then remove the 2 screws after that there are 2 clips on the two corners push your puddy knife in there till you feel the clips. Then push forward and lift the top at the same time it should lift. After that you will need a 1/4 inch nut driver or 5/16 not sure. The screws will be on the left and right inside front panel the whole front panel then should come off by lifting and pulling towards you aftet that you need to look under to remember how the old belt is on the idler wheel. Then you install new belt and go backward on instructions good luck :)
