SOURCE: Wolfgang Puck 7 cup Rice cooker

THIS is a generic manual and can be a guide for most cookers/steamers.

The rice and water go into the Inner Pot, Not the steamer basket.
Some useful tips:

  1. How can I reduce or stop the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pan or browning excessively?
    • Before cooking, rinse rice in warm water until water becomes clear. Then place the rice in the inner pot with fresh water.
    • Take care to use proper water to rice ratios.
  2. How can I stop the water in the inner pot from boiling over the lid?
    • You may be using too much water.
    • Use a 1:1 ratio of rice to water plus ½ cup of water for white rice and a 1:1 ratio plus ¾ cup of water for brown rice.
  3. How can I clean my rice cooker?
    • Unplug and allow to cool completely.
    • Always exercise extreme caution as the unit becomes hot during operation.
    • Soak the inner pot in hot, soapy water for a few minutes.
    • Wash with a non-abrasive pad.
    • Wipe the heating base with a damp cloth.
    • All other items can be washed with soap and hot water.
    • NEVER use an abrasive cleaner or steel wool.
    • Note: This unit SHOULD NOT be put in the dishwasher,
  4. How does a rice cooker know when to ‘Keep Warm’?
    • The boiling temperature for water is 212°F.
    • As soon as all of the water has evaporated the temperature inside the inner pot immediately rises.
    • Rice cookers have a Keep Warm Setting that can detect when the temperature rises above the 212°F.
    • When this happens it automatically turns to the Keep Warm Setting.
    • This helps to ensure perfect rice every time.
P.S. - If you find that the solution/answer I provided led you to, or resulted in a fix, please close the ticket with a FixYa! rating. I would be very grateful for your show of appreciation.
If it hasn’t, please do not assign a rating just yet. Please post back as to what steps you took, results, etc, and I will try to assist you further as best I can. I am here at your service.

Thank you for using FIXYA!

Cheers!

SOURCE: I need cooking instructions for RC3406 6 cup rice cooker

I ran into the same problem locating this manual. Black and Decker has the manual for the 3 cup on their site but not the 6 cup. I did find a manual for the Rival brand version which appears to be the same thing. You can find it at the URL

Can I plug this cooker into an Asian 220V 60Hz outlet, or will it fry it? The label on the bottom says "CAT. NO. RC400 TYPE 1, 120V 60Hz 500W", but the cord says "10A 250V."

If you put 220 into your cooker, it will destroy the heating element probably in a few seconds if not instantly. The heating element is a simple nichrome wire resistor and will not tolerate dissipating twice as much heat.

Most rice measures are the same. You might be able to find one at an Asian market.
My rice measure (and I think most) is 6 ounces = 3/4 of a standard cup.

Rice is sticky and clumpy after cooking

Sounds like it's working perfectly for an Asian family. :-) Our rice cooker is a different design (made for Americans) and we can reduce the stickiness by adding more water than called for and rinsing the rice before cooking. Good luck!
