My cigarette lighter isn't working? Can it be a burned out fuse?

The fuse could be burnt out, the lighter coil could be burnt out, or the hot wire or ground could be loose.

May help - fuses supply power but also needed is earth return to battery. This is usually black wires running from device to the car metal. To diagnose you need a multimeter. Check body of cigar lighter is connected to the chasis with meter on ohms. (continuity test) good is zero ohms. If earth problem, check under dash to ensure all earth wires connect to metal chassis. Then with ignition on, check centre pin at back inside cigar lighter has 12 volts to side.
If not then check fuse has 12 volt to it, Now you can get to the fan, repeat all the tests on fan. Best wishes, its tedious work.

After unhooking my battery to replace a headlight, my stereo will not work as soon as the key is turned to start it. It says CHECK and 0627 comes up if you press its buttons. Is this a code?

Hello! The label that contains the radio code is on a small white piece of paper stuck to the painted area to the left of the spare tire. It has a long number/letter sequence starting with VW... And below that is the 4 digit radio code......I am not certain that the 0627 is the code...Seems odd that the code would display... Your owners manual will have the instructions on how to enter the code...Next time you need to disconnect the battery use the following: Obtain a cigar lighter plug and connect a 9 volt battery to it...Make sure you follow polarity...Center tip of plug is +...
Outside spring is - Plug into the cigar lighter before you disconnect the battery of the vehicle...That 9 volt battery will maintain the radio power....Guru..............Saailer

Battery dead 2003 S type. Cannot gain access to rear luggage compartment

plug a cheap jumper battery cable into the cigarette lighter. They are the kind that has a cigar lighter plug at each end. Or, hook a 9 volt battery to a cigar lighter plug. That should be enough to operate the trunk switch.

2006 jetta, i have a 20amp fuse that blows that is not labeled? it is the only one not labeled in the owners manual. how do i figure out what it is for? thanks!

Check if there is something plugged into a power socket or cigar lighter. if so remove it and se if the fuse stops blowing. If all the sockets seem fine, then plug something you know that works into one and if it does not work, then the fuse is for the cigar lighter/12v socket.
Good luck

Cigarette lighter adapter tip has melted

If it is the tip end that you put into the cigar lighter you can get a replacement at most good auto-shops. You then need to get a soldering iron, and solder wire aswell. When you have all of these, you can begin.

Firstly cut open the old plug.
Then you will see 2 wires attached to thhe metal contacts inside.

Remove 1 wire and note which contact it was soldered to then solder it onto the same contact of the new plug.

Do the same for the second and you are done.

You could put a fuse in line to prevent damage to the equipment it is powering.

Heres what to do:

- Connect to computer using USB cable
- Flip up antenna and hit reset button.
- The unit should power up.
- Then put unit on wall charge to get a full charge.

That should do it if not call 1-800 800 1020.
