My Sharp LED LC-52LE820UN HDMI ports are not working. I tried powering off the cable box, TV and PS3. Unplugged the HDMI cables, then booted all three devices. Afterward I power everything off, plugged...
This is a known problem on Sharp Aquos TV's. The HDMI inputs connect to their own sub-processor board right at the ports. This board is VERY prone to failure with just the SLIGHTEST static electricity problem - it usually starts acting up after a storm, will only go out for a couple hours, you turn the TV off, come back the next morning, and it works again. You think "OK, random problem, whatever". Then it does it again a couple months later, then it starts happening more and more until the board completely stops working altogether. The board is about $150 and is easy to replace yourself - if you've ever replaced a card in your PC computer, it's not much more difficult, just more screws. These tend to go out right at the 11-13 month point, which is awesome as far as a warranty is concerned. In short, get the extended warranty or buy with American Express which automatically doubles manufacturer's warranties with ANY electronics purchase, then replace it before the warranty is up. Good luck. (and P.S., Sharp will argue that this isn't a known problem but just do a Google search, it'll pop up all over the place).
