When I plug in my Jet 3 Ultra 4500, it seems to charge - the charging lights come on - but it never charges. In fact, I can't get it to move at all, even when plugged in. I think I am using the...

when you plug in the charger do you get any amp reading on the meter located at the rear of the chair near where the charger cord plugs into the chair. When you plug in the cord the meter should deflect and read 6 amps or so. If you aren't getting any deflection of the amp meter then either the batteries are dead or the charger is bad. If you have a voltmeter you can set it to 200 volts dc and plug the leads into the charger port located under the front of the joystick Plug the leads into the 2 outter holes of the port with the charger plugged into the wall you should be reading 27-30 volts. Unplug the charger and you will be reading the battery voltage and fully charged they should read 25-27+ volts. If you aren't reading 25-27 volts without the charger plugged in you will need new batteries( anything less than 10 volts will not let the chair turn on) if you aren't getting 27-30 volts with the charger plugged in then the charger is bad and you can get or borrow an off-board charger and charge the chair thru the joystick port Hope this helps

WILL NOT CHARGE I HAVE TRIED TO CHAGE IT BUT IT WILL NOT CHAGRE

well if it won't charge then it could be the batteries are too low for the charger to pick up or the charger is not working. If you have a voltmeter set it on 200 vdcand plug it into the 2 outter holes of the charger port located under the front of the joystick. Without the charger plugged in you will read the battery voltage and it should read 25-27 volts fully charged Now plug in the charger and the meter will be reading the charge voltage and it shoud be 27-30 volts. If you are reading 27-30 volts with the charger plugged in then the charger is working Hope this helps you

Power chair will not charge

Get new batteries and make sure the charger is charging by checking the voltage at the charger port located under the front of the joystick. With the charger plugged in set a voltmeter to 200vdc and plug the leads into the two outter holes of the charger port. You should be reading 27-32 volts if the charger is working correctly. Without the charger plugged into the wall outlet you will be reading the battery voltage 25-27 volts fully charged Hope this helps you

It not charging fully

Stan Issue is probably batteries. If you are charging overnite and never get a full charge then I would suspect batteries. If you have a voltmeter set it to 200 vdc and plug the leads into the two outer holes of the charger port located under the front of the joystick. When fully charged you should read 25-27 volts. If you are reading a lower voltage then I would check the charger. you will have to read the voltage at the battery posts with the charger plugged into the charger port You should read 27-30 volts. If you are not getting that reading replace the charger. Try borrowing a charger from someone that also has a chair If it charges the batteries then you need a new charger if it doesn't then you need new batteries Hope this helps

Chair dont take a charge

Get new batteries If your batteries are 2-3 years old its time for new ones. You can check the output of the charger by using a digital voltmeter Set the meter to 200 vdc and plug it into the two outter holes of the charger port with the charger plugged in you should read 27-30 volts. and with the charger unpluged you can aslo read the voltage of your batteries. fully charged they should read 25 -27 volts. If when charging you don't read 27-30 volts then the charger isn't working and you can get an offboard charger cheaper than the onboard just charge thru the charger port on the joystick. Hope this helps

Battery on wheelchair rapidly loses power even though it was fully charged and the batteries were checked out and tested fine.

Dave hmm about the only thing it can be is the batteries or one battery that is weaker than the other one. How where they checked? A drop of 1.5 to 2 volts under load is bad enough to cause your problem. Even new batteries can be bad or not maintain the load. OOps thought of another possible cause Now you could have a brush problem with one or both of the motors causing an excessive load on the batteries. I would have your provider check the brushes for you and replace any that look excessively worn. Check the cables on the batteries to make sure that they are tight and not loose. If you have a digital voltmeter you can check your charger voltage output when it is plugged in. Set the meter to 200 volts dc and plug the leads into the two outer holes in the charger port located under the front of the joystick with the charger plugged in the voltage should read 27-30 volts. After charging test the battery voltage at the same place and you should read 25-27 volts. Hope this helps

My batteries are good but when i turn the chair on all lights come then go out leaving the two red lights flashing

Sonny you say your batteries are good but the error you describe indicates low batteries. If you have a digital voltmeter or can borrow one. set it to 200 volts dc and plug the leads into the two outter holes of the charger plug located under the front of the joystick. Fully charged you should be reading 25-27 volts, if you are reding less than 22 volts then the batteries need charging. Now with the meter still plugged in to the joystick plug in your on-board charger. when it is on and charging you should be reading anywhere from 25-30 volts. If you are not then the charger is not putting our the correct voltage and your batteries aren't getting charged correctly. After a full charge (the yellow light on the charger turns green) you should get 25-27 volts on the meter. If all of the voltages check out then you have another problem that I need more information to venture a solution Hope this helps you

I work at a homeless clinic. We had a Jazzy 1170 donated and we charged the battery for about 7 hours. When we tried it out it moved very slowly. Nothing was registering on the amp meter on the back. ...

Yes you probably need new batteries. If you have access to a digital voltmeter set it to 200 volts DC and plug the leads into the charger port located under the front of the joystick. Plug it into the 2 outter holes. Without the charger plugged in you are reading the battery voltage it should read 24- 27 volts. Now plug in the on-board charger and the voltage should go up to 27-30 volts. If you don't get at least 24 volts w/o the charger plugged in then the batteries are bad. If you don't read 27-30 volts with the charger plugged in then the charger is bad and unfortunately both might need to be replaced. Hope this helps

I charge my jet 3 ultra with the cord but as soon as i remove the cord it dies what do I do? I no longer have the instruction manual

jaeger How long have you had the chair? And have you changed the batteries or had them changed within the last year? The problem could be the batteries. If the were run down or not charged for a long time then your charger cannot pick them up enough to reach a full charge or in your case no charge at all. Now if the batteries are fairly new but have run down the problem could be the charger. If you have a digital voltmeter and your Jazzy has an on-board charger -- plug in the charger then put the test leads in the charger port two outter plug holes under the front of the joystick set the meter to 200 volts dc. You should read up to 30 volts with the charger plugged in. Now unplug the charger and you will read the battery voltage it should read 24-27 volts. If when you have the charger plugged in and you don't read up to 30 volts then the charger is bad If after charging overnite and you don't read 24-27 volts the the batteries are bad If Medicare purchased your chair then you can call a service company to repair your chair and they will bill Medicare for the cost of the repair. Medicare will pay 80% of the cost. You can call Repair Xpress @ 1-877-581-3733 or Roadrunner Mobility @ 1-800-467-2668 to have a tech come out and rpair your chair. Hope this helps you
