SOURCE: Dell D600 will not switch on - tripping power sources

First thing to try is another power supply. They go out. They run at less effenciecies sometimes, and other times they just stop. The inverters get really hot when we use them for a while and they usually get banged around a bit too. When they heat and cool repeatedly, the chips inside expand and contract and over time they crack their soldering in the boards and they lose contact. If one were to have come loose all together and have bounced around inside until it caught on something, that could be your short. Something could have just gotten into the cooling vents on your power inverter too if it has them. Try swapping out with someone else that has a Dell if you can to see if it works, or take it into a repair shop and ask them if they can check it with a good inverter for you. I would think any decent repair place should do this for you at no charge and it would take them 2 min. You can find universal ones for much much less than a standard Dell replacement as well if that's what it is. I know the Dell OEM inverters are over $100 and universal replacement ones are from $25 to $40 on average.

SOURCE: fan works when tested on external source but not

If you have no power to the fan while the compressor is running. You have a bad defrost timer or door switch. These are the only thing that will turn the fan on and off.

How do I wire external amplifier

In order for this to work correctly you need:
  1. Power wire (with fuse) from battery to amp (+)
  2. Ground wire from amp to car chassis. (-)
  3. remote-on lead from a 12V power source that turns on and off with the ignition if the head unit does not supply a wire. (switch)
  4. RCA connection from head unit to the amp. (sound in)
  5. Speaker wire connection from amp to speakers. (sound out)
It is easiest to start with deciding on the amp mounting location, and then running all the wires. Add an extra foot or so to each wire. You may discover in the process that you have to move things around due to unforeseen obstacles. This extra foot will help in that case. Always attach the ground wire to the chassis first and then to the amp first. Once you have the fused power wire from the battery installed; remove the fuse before trying to attach it to the amp. ONLY re-install the fuse once all connections to the amp are made, secure, have been checked twice and you're ready to test it.. This includes speakers. DO NOT for ANY reason have the amp powered up before attaching ALL speaker connections.

Mp4 player 4gb

According to an earlier fixya post by spoil5, it's a common problem with Transcend mp3 players usually because of a defective battery and/or the operating firmware.
Transcend MP 860 Review

His tips:
  • Keep the battery charged, don't let it go flat
  • Try the trick with the volume control
  • Replace the battery

Here's his temporary fix to make charging work:
  • Turn on player.
  • In main menu press and hold the rocker button in up position.
  • You should see volume adjustment indicator.
  • While volume indicator is increasing, plug USB cable connected to turned on power supply.

Important: the volume must keep changing at the moment of plugging the cable (cannot be stopped at max position). If necessary set volume to 0 first and then start from 2.

Cant open my hard drive in my laptop

Locate the power cable and USB cable that came with your hard drive.

Connect cables to the appropriate locations on the back of the hard drive.

Sometimes a USB cable doubles as the power source, so you might not need a wall outlet to power the device.

Turn on your computer and allow your operating system time to load before continuing.

Plug the hard drive into the power outlet if necessary, but wait on powering up the device.

Connect the USB cable to the computer while the hard drive is in the "Off" position.

If the USB cable doubles as the power source, the device might turn itself on once connected.

Turn on the hard drive and wait until the hardware has been detected by the operating system. A message should pop up that lets you know new hardware has been detected.

Click on the "Start" menu and go to "My Computer."

Notice all your disk drives are listed in this window. The external hard drive should be visible, and holding the mouse cursor over the location will help you locate the correct drive.

Right click on the location of the drive, and move the cursor to "Open" or "Explore" and click.

Hope this helps

Hi my Transcend 320 GB harddisk is not getting detected. Storejet 320Gb

hello

connect the USB external hard disk to usb port by the way disconnect other working harddisks
available on the system, boot the system with bootable cd/floppy go to command prompt and run
chkdsk on this drive

Also download "mbrfix" connect all working harddisks along with the nondetecting harddisk and run mbrfix for the USB defective harddisk

Try using different USB data transfer cable, if power source adapter is used check for rated power output in multimeter for this adapter, if found defective replace it with new/good adapter with same
specifications

Bad luck if harddisk controller has failed you have to go in for new harddisk

GOOD LUCK ooo

Describe your Transcend 4GB JetFlash 110 USB 4.0 Flash Drive transcend not detected by the computer

I devised these simple steps that tend to remedy quite a few issues with most portable / external hard drives (though not always)
A few things to check but assumes USB and Windows for other interfaces / operating systems similar steps may be adapted to suit.

1. Ensure it is connected directly to the computer to a USB 2.0 port not a USB 1.0 port as this can have effects on performance and reliability
2. Use only the cables that came with it NOT one that fits that may have been lying around or is longer. Not all USB cables are equal even though they should be)
3. Do not connect through an external USB HUB unless that hub is USB 2.0 AND has its own power supply.
4. Use ONLY the power supply that came with it if it has an external power supply
Don’t use any other unless you know it has both the same voltage and current rating e.g. 12V 500mA anything rated below that would not work properly.
5. Always use the same port for connecting your devices. Some devices do not like being switched about. If switched they may want to install software / drivers again.
If you checked and fixed anything there and still have issues carry on reading.
Go to your control panel and then administrative tools, select Computer Management.
Now select Disk Management and expand the window.
Your drive should be listed here, if not then you need to check your computer hardware has not got any issues before proceeding.
If your drive is listed and says healthy then right click on it an select Properties, click Tools and then Error Checking, Check now, tick the two boxes and then Start.
This will attempt to fix most minor / common errors on the drive. It may also ask you to restart which is fine. Allow it to finish its work or you could corrupt the drive. If all went well you should be able to use it normally again.
If you drive was listed but did NOT say healthy then right click and select Format. Choose NTFS as the file system and do not tick any boxes you do NOT want quick format. Again start and let it do its thing. When it is done restart your computer and you should be good to go.
If you still have problems with the drive you might want to look at other areas.
