Question about Pioneer SD-533HD5 53" Rear Projection HDTV
Sounds like the high voltage transformer
or could be high voltage off the tubes.
not a good idea to keep this running as it will cause more damage, best to have service tech look at this since it's high voltage.
Be careful. This same problem burned a mark in the Blue crt on my pro730HD. Three months and the Service Tech and Pioneer have been unable to determine the cause (they claim). In the process they have blown two more crt's.
When your tv goes off, try turning it back on using the main power button instead of the remote. The button should be behind a flip-down strip below the screen. When it is working again, look for any faint colored spots in the picture most prominent on light backgrounds. Mine is a yellow Y in the center of the screen.
If there are no spots, I would suggest you don't use the TV until you get it fixed because eventually it will damage your crt ($750). Of course, as I said, they have been unable to fix my problem and I have had no TV for three months.
