How do I change the fuel lines on a 445 husqvarna chain saw

There are two hoses coming from the r/h side of the tank, one is the main fuel line ( with the fuel filter on the end inside the tank ) and the fuel return tube which comes down from the primer bulb, there is also a white tank breather valve next to these pipe ( make sure the fuel is not leaking from here ) both hoses are moulded and push into the tank, it should be just about possible to do this without removing the tank, however it is much easier to remove the tank.

Where is the tank breather

The 350 tank breather is on the top r/h side of the fuel tank, if you look between the crankcase where the top hanle fixes you will see a white plug with a nipple on the top, this is the breather, you can pull it out with a pair of long nose pliers.

Chainsaw stops running

When it starts to die slacken off the fuel cap enough to allow air into the tank, if it picks up again it is an issue with the fuel tank breather, if the breather is blocked it will create a vacume in the tank and stop fuel flow to the carb.

Can a fuel tank breather be unclogged for a craftsman 358? Is the breather the same as the vent plug? I didn't see a fuel tank breather listed in the parts diagram.

Many fuel tanks "breathe" through the gas cap. It lets air in, while keeping the fuel from leaking out at the same time. They also will have two fuel lines going to the tank; one will usually have a weighted filter attached to it so that no matter which way you turn the trimmer, it will fall to the bottom of the tank to pull fuel. The other fuel line will be a return line from the carburetor so that excess fuel pumped into the carburetor can be vented back into the fuel tank.

If you have the original Craftsman part #s from your manual, you can find replacements at's Cross-Reference Page.

353 husqvarna saw bogs out and dies

The 353 is a very reliable saw and does not suffer with too many problems, i would start by replacing the fuel filter in the tank, then check the fuel hose up to the carb for signs of leaking and cracks, there is a short curled pipe which takes the impulse from the engine to the carb, you will see this just under the induction rubber connected to the cylinder, make sure this is still connected and not cracked, when it starts to die, try to slacken off the filler cap, if it picks up again then it is an issue with the tank breather, replace the breather, it is located on the right hand, top side of the fuel tank, it can be replaced without removing the fuel tank.

Is there a little nipple that looks like a mini in line gas filter that goes inside of gas tank where gas line goes into tank on one side and into carb on other and what is the part #

There is possibly three hoses in the tank dependant on wheather the machine has a primmer bulb, there is a main fuel hose with the filter on the end, a return hose from the primer bulb, and possibly a breather tube, the return hose may just have a plastic nipple on the end to stop the hose pulling out, the breather if in the tank will have a devise to stop the fuel leaking out, but allow air in to stop a vacume being created in the tank.

I have a 445 after runing 1/2 tank of gas and it gets warm it dosent start and you cant get fuel in the primer bulb

This sounds very much like a blocked fuel tank breather, when the saw dies quickly slacken off the fuel cap, if it picks up again it is the breather, the breather is on the r/h top side of the fuel tank, it is a grrn valve pushed into the tank, pull it out and replace.

My Husqavarna 365XP chainsaw gas tank just started leaking, apparently through what appears to be a vent hole. There's a white plastic piece in this portwhich I assume is supposed to prevent liquid...

hi there pauly 46 here

here is web site for parts

take a look at page K its shows the white plug and the breather which goes into tank

its suposed to allow air in but no fuel out and allow the tank not to pressurize and cause the carby metering diaphram to open the needle valve allowing excess fuel into c/case

i think from memory they either push out or unscrew after you remove the white cap

you may need to undo some of the av mounts to give you the room to get at them

have a look its a good site

cheers , hope it helps

I filled my 340 husqvarna chainsaw for the first time this year and it leaked gas from someshere opposite the fuel fill tank( maybe near the fuel line). It then quit leaking and just will not start. Maybe...

Opposite the fuel fill is the tank breather, and the return to tank hose if the machine has a primer, the back to tank hose fits on to an orange connection in the tank, it may have slipped off, next to it is the breather the early breather was two white pellets pressed into the tank, these will need to be removed and replaced if this is where the leak is from, the later breather is a white round assembly with a connection on the top, nothing fits to this conection, the breather can be pulled and and replaced if required.
