SOURCE: sound yes, but no picture on tv

If you have sound on the stations this is a problem in the display. Take bright flashlight and hold it against the screen. Look for an image around the edge of the flashlight. If you see an image then it's one of three problems;
1) The inverter board is bad.
2) The CCFT (cold cathode fluoresent light) are bad.
3) The power supply to the inverter board is bad.
Someone knowledgeable in electronics can replace the bad part(s).

SOURCE: 32" flat screen that went black

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

SOURCE: No picture on my Toshiba 42HP66 plasma tv.

I too have this problem with no help from hh Gregg, where I bought the tv, and no help from Toshiba. I resorted to calling the BBB and complaining about the defective workmanship. I took the tv, which is less than 2 years old, apart and found the y-sus board, behind the y-sus board is a foam rubber spacer to seperate the circut board from the backside of the screen. I think this pad is designed to prevent heat buildup in the y-sus board. The pad itself is held on by glue and that glue melted causing the y-sus board to short out. I noticed this after finding a tacky substance behind the board. The heat from the plasma screen melted this and also the pad itself. Toshiba claims no resposibility because the tv was out of warranty. Thanks Toshiba.

That indicates a problem with loose inverters or the inverter board itself needing to be replaced.

My sony vega is only 4 yrs. old and it went black all of a sudden while we watching it and the lamp light came on

It is possible that your picture tube went out, therefore you would have to either buy a new picture tube and have it installed in the TV or replace the TV altogether. I suggest that you consult the manual that came with the TV. It might be able to help you better. Good luck to you!

There is not much you can do to fix your plasma. Since the plasma is less then 1 year old, still under Samsung warranty.
I would suggest to call them to fix it.
Good luck.
