My ice maker will work great for a while, maybe a month or so, & then stop working. It may not work for a week or so and then out of the blue, it starts working again. Hotpoint side by side, about 12...

Good day,
I will assume that the freezer maintains it's normal temperature.
If the temperature in the freezer rises much above 10 degrees the ice maker will lock out. That is by design.
There are 2 possibilities. One is the water valve located in the bottom rear of the machine. Any water valve over 5 years of age is suspect. They will at times refuse to open when the ice maker tells it to, and can become erratic.

If replacing it fails to solve the problem, then unfortunately you will need to repace the ice maker, which at that age would not be abnormal.

If you do the water valve first, and need to follow up with the icemaker itself, nothing is really lost since it is standard proceedure to replace the valve if a new icemaker is installed.

FREEZER ERRATIC. Will work for 6 to 12 hours and

You will have to remove the inside rear freezer panel .The # 4 thermistor is bad . This tells the main control board , the temp of the coils , if they need defrosted , when they are thru defrosting . This thermistor is the 1 " long , torpedo looking piece , clipped on the top left of the coils , with 2 white wires going to it . Part number WR55X10025 . It would be advisable to also replace the # 5 thermistor , located at the bottom of the freezer , slightly in front of the drain , also with 2 white wires going to it , slid into a housing . This thermistor , is the freezer thermistor , which tells the control board , the freezer temp and when to cycle off due to temp setting .

Small amount of water leaks from the front of my Samsung R2630SH.

I found out that there is a plastic panel that cools three draws inside the refrigerator. Behind the plastic panel there is an evaporator (coolant childer) that catches the condensation of repeatedly opening and closing the refrigerator door that turns into thick ice. Because of condensation, ice buildup in such a way that the ice pushes the middle draw out causing the door to open. In turn depending on how long the door stays open, melts the ice and the water leaks under the bottom draw out on either side of the front refrigerator door. Also, there is a drain plug that is also iced closed. To solve that problems, the unplug the refrig, put towel under the refrig, removed the panel (unplugging the wires and removing screws) and took a hair blow dryer to melt the ice. Oh, by the way, I used to blow dryer to melt the ice from the panel before I could remove the panel. That job took all day. I removed all the ice and reassembled the panel and replace the drawers. To my amazing, no more leaks and the water dispenser worked for two days and quit. I believed the water tank (plastic container in front of the panel has frooze again. By the way the ice maker did not work after removing the ice.

first i wold check the micro switch that the acuator paddle trips next i would replace the watervalves which is the most likely cause of this finally id replace the control bd as some early ges had a promblem with this there is also a solinoid in there for opening the ice chute door but that wouldnt affect the water but may cause a voltage drop if its getting bad id change the water valves the ice is on one valve the door water is on the other

Panel flashing, ice door opening and closing constantly

That is a faulty icemaker solenoid switch, or a contact on wiring.

Kenmore Refrigerator stopped dispensing water

Look up through the ice despencer on the front door of the freezer. Is the flapper door open? If so it needs to be fixed. If its not then try leaving the freezer door open for 3+ hours to defrost the frozen line in the door. If that doesnt work, the water valve must be changed.(located behind fridge, take off back cord board panel at bottom, the valve is blue)... GOODLUCK!
