AC BLOWS WARM AIR

BOUGHT HOME 2YRS AGO. NEW UNIT PURCHASED BY PREVIOUS HOMEOWNER. OUTSIDE SEEMS FINE, INSIDE THE UNIT MAKES HONKING SOUND ON/OFF THROUGHOUT THE DAY/NIGHT FOR ABOUT 4 MONTHS.

Air does blow cold, but honks. It's a Thermal zone model# AH30B-1S. Sound lasts 3-5 seconds. It cycles good, no freeze up, no leakage inside home. Any thoughts on what it may be.

Cooling comes from what is done outside, if air handler is blowing and you are hearing a sound , may be in the duct work. If you feel warm air in cooling mode then the outside unit is the prob, need more info

If the sound is coming from inside, sounds to me it's something in the unit has gotten around the fan motor or there is something loose in the duct work

If you can access the inside of the air handler, that's where i would start.make sure you turn off the breaker to the unit. look for anything loose or in the fan motor. if not there, look in the return, if it's in the supply that's gonna be more difficult.let me know how that goes, if that doesn't fix it we'll go from there

Unit alternates cold, warm, cold, warm etc..

in high temps AC units undergo whats called thermal inversion. This is when it blows hot inside and cold outside. I do not believe there is a fix for this. Maybe it is not properly sized for you room? If your unit is too small, it may be working too hard and inverting.

I have a 2008 mobile home. Not sure what brand ac unit. Last night noticed not getting cool air. The blower inside was working. The outside fan was not running. It was humming and very warm on the top of...

The motor is not bad. There is a capacitor on the unit that is used to get the motor to spin. The capacitor looks like a small can and has two or three wires connected to it. IF you work on this unit, make sure that you turn off the power to it. You can remove the capacitor and see what the numbers are that should be listed on it. Make sure you note where the wires connect. Or take a picture of it for reference.

Ac sytem blows strong air but its warm

If the compressor and fan work in the outside unit, and the fan inside (air handler) works, probably the system is low in refrigerant which means there's a leak that has to be fixed and then recharge the unit.

UNIT NOT BLOWING WARM AIR-OR REACHING DESIRED TEMP

I assume this is a heat pump. The outside unit may be icing up. It should have a defrost cycle with electronic control that sometimes fails or sensor associated with the electronic determination of when to defrost may have failed or may not be sensing because its out of position. You can check for a defrost problem. If frost is blocking the outside unit air will not pass through it after the frost builds up and you may be able to see the white frost as well. If all this is true you need to get a service manual and use its procedures to find out why the unit is not defrosting.

Won't turn on

The unit in your back yard is the outside half. The one that blows room temp air is the inside half.

The outside half is not working. No compressor, no fan. That is a problem with the power. You will find the bad parts very close to where the power wires go into the outside half. It might be a bad relay that connects both the fan and compressor to the power. It might be a 3 terminal capacitor. It might be burnt wires.

Clicking sound is the contactor engaging to start the outside unit. Check for a burnt off wire at the contactor. For some reason you are not getting power to the outside unit. If you find a burnt off wire shut off all power to it then remake the connection at the point of the circuit break.

Check the filters inside and the evap coil to make sure it isnt filthy. The evap coil can be cleaned with a credit card if its wet. The large line outside should sweat all the way to the compressor if its got enough freon. Will freeze when its cool outside or not sweat at all if its low. Good luck with it.
