After a power outage, I reset my microwave clock. When it came to changing from 12:59 to 1:00, the clock said 13:00. Somehow I reset it to AM/PM which gives the correct time but I don't like AM/PM

SOURCE: Sharp R510AK Carousel Microwave

Very common problem with the display. It may or may not eventually light back up on it's own.

I would suggest contacting www.microwavedisplay.com. Lots of info and the best deal going for repairing the display.

SOURCE: I have a Kitchenaid Microwave

F2 on a Kitchenaid microwave means you have a shorted keypad.

You have a failed keypad.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

If you would like to have us do this for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you need more help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

SOURCE: Clock Losing Its Memory

Our oven clock does the same thing every time the power blips, but we live way out in the boonies and expect occasional problems. Do your lights blink too? Check with your neighbors to see if they have power problems. If this is a chronic situation, contact your power company to see if they can repair the situation.

Hi,

Press the "Off/Clear' button to cancel anything on the display, and reset the microwave. This is a soft reset and will simply get you out of any program you have started. Press it when the cooking complete reminder appears on the display.
Perform a hard reset. Pull the plug out of the wall power supply, and wait a moment. Plug the GE microwave back into the wall power supply to reset any anomalies with the microwave's memory. You will need to reset the time of day if you perform a hard reset.
Reset the time of day. Press the "Clock" button, and turn the dial to set the hours. Press the dial to enter. Follow the same procedure for the minutes and a.m. or p.m. Press the "Start" button to start the clock.

Depending on the brand, if you push the clock button more than once it changes from am to pm to military time (24 hour) to am, to pm, etc.

Power went off for about 2 seconds. when power came on, the clock was still running but touching each and every other button brought no result. cannot change the clock, or use the microwave at all.

the next day, i tried the microwave again and it worked fine. don't know what caused the problem other than the power outage - we have quite a few of them.

Gibberish on the Front Screen

Try unplugging the unit for 30 seconds then plug it back in. The power outage may have been erratic and the MW did not reset properly.
