Question about Building Materials

1 Answer

My Genie Blue Max opener has become very noisy. I lubed the screw, but it didn't help. Is there anywhere else to lubricate?

More then likely the motor is the problem, it is in need of replacement.

Replacement motor bearings for a genie shop vac/blower model# pb 15

Unfortunately those machines do not have serviceable bearings. The entire motor needs replaced. However, I have saved noisy bearings by putting oil on them, specifically 3 in 1 Blue Label motor oil. A few drops spread on the top and bottom of the bearings and giving the motor a few backward and forwards turns by hand will help those bearings immensely.

Hi, I have an older garage door opener, Genie

If the opener doesn't work with the button on the wall the opener is defective, either the receiver board or the motor drive circuit or the motor itself.

Unable to program universal opener with genie pro max garage

Actually, this remote can be used with Genie Garages. See the article here on eHow - I used this to program a KLIK1U to work with my Genie Promax 2 garage. Hope that helps!

Noise while in use

First, check the ramp area. A ramp with worn groove marks can become quite noisy. It could also be coming from a bearing in one of your wheels. If the noise seems to be coming from the rear of the machine, attempt to lubricate the moving parts and the different connection points. Silicone Spray Lube by SPORTSMITH 9 Oz SPORTSMITH net

Runs but noisy

Look in the drum. If you see 3 screws in about a three inch circle in the center of the back, then it rotates on a ball and socket. These get dry and or loose. You can try greasing it with a very high temp grease (try one for lubing disc brake calipers on cars) or it may need to be replaced. If you don't see those screws, it probably runs on rollers which either need spray lube (such as WD40) or replacing.

Opener only raises the door one foot.

IF THE DOOR IS BALANCED TRY ADJUSTING THE SENSITIVITY.
THE DRIVE SHOULD BE LUBED WITH WHITE LITHIUM OR GENIE LUBE 2 TIMES PER YEAR TO KEEP THE UNIT QUIETER AND PREVENT EXCESS WEAR.
IF YOU USE THE WRONG LUBE - GREASE ETC. THE UNIT WILL GET GUMMED UP AND WILL HAVE PROBLEMS IN COLD WEATHER.
ONCE YOU ADJUST THE SENSITIVITY YOU SHOULD BE OK.
