Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

How to download books to your Kindle from your computer

We had a reader email us and ask us how he could get a TeleRead-mentioned e-book onto his Kindle. In case anyone else would like a tutorial, here's how to do it.

Download the e-book to your computer. Connect the Kindle to the computer's USB port. The Kindle will show up as a new drive on your computer. If you have an SD card in the Kindle it will show up as a second new drive. Copy, or drag and drop, the e-book to the Documents directory in the Kindle or SD card. That's all there is to it. When you disconnect the Kindle the machine will automatically recognize the new book. Be sure not to disconnect the Kindle until the little silver block at the bottom right stops spinning around.

If you use an SD card, you can dispense with all of the above and just remove the SD card from your Kindle and connect it to a card reader and copy the book directly from your PC to the proper directory on the card. The Kindle will recognize the new book when you plug the card back in. To be safe, shut off the Kindle when removing or inserting the card.

You can also just email it to your kindle's address. Although there is mention of a 10 cent charge per email, no one has ever been charged and Kindle support says there are no plans to do so, at this time.

It's definitely being charged now - I sent a 50 MB PDF to my kindle email address and received a $4 charge.

Welcome to Fixya

To save books to your computer try these steps

  1. Visit the Manage Your Kindle page (http://www.amazon.com/manageyourkindle).
  2. Locate the item you wish to download in the "Your Orders " section at the bottom of the page. If you have a lot of content, you may need to use the Previous and Next options at the bottom to navigate through all of your content.
  3. Click on "Deliver to. . ." next to the title and choose "Transfer via Computer" from the list.
  4. Save the file to your computer when prompted by your web browser.
  5. Connect Kindle to your computer with the USB cable.
  6. Use your computer's file browser to drag and drop the file to your Kindle.

You can also save the books or item on the time of purchase

  1. Select "Transfer via Computer" from the Deliver to: pull-down menu on the product detail page.
  2. Save the file to your computer when prompted by your web browser.
  3. Connect Kindle to your computer with the USB cable.
  4. Use your computer's file browser to drag and drop the file to your Kindle.

Following both steps should allow you to access your books without internet connection

Hope this helps

Do you mean they are not on your carousel? Your kindle may be deleting them to make room for more books since they have a limited amount of space. Any of your books are still on your amazon account and can be downloaded again at anytime at no additional charge.

I have a kindle fire I cant open the books to read it was fine until last week everything else is working fine mary levy

Book Won't Open

Your book won't open on your Kindle (5th Generation), or there's an error when you try to open a book.
Before you perform these steps, make sure that your Kindle is connected to a wireless network. To learn more, go to Connect to Wi-Fi.
There may have been an error with downloading the book. Remove the title from your device, restart your device, and then download the book again.

  1. From Home, select the book or content to be deleted and press the left side of the 5-way controller.
  2. Select Remove from Device.
  3. From the Home screen, press the Menu button and select Settings.
  4. Press the Menu button again and select Restart.
  5. After your device restarts, navigate to your Archived Items, and download the book again

How to delete kindle book from I pad

To remove books from ipad:

"In cover view: Tap on the cover for the title and hold it until the "X" appears on the cover. Then tap on the "X" to finish deleting the title. In List view: Swipe your finger across the title toward the left to display the Archive or Delete button. Content that is purchased from the Kindle Store is archived and can be re-downloaded at any time; sideloaded content and personal documents that are not archived in your Kindle Library are permanently deleted. Tap Archive or Delete to remove the book from your Home screen. Archived content will remain in your Archived Items."

I have a new kindle. Can I tranfer my books onto from my old one?

You can easily load all of your books onto your new Kindle. Amazon retains a record of all your book purchases in an archive. When you register your new Kindle (and turn on wireless) it 'phones home' to Amazon and Amazon places an entry on your main menu entitled Archive. Just click on that entry and all of your past book purchases will appear and will automatically be downloaded to the Kindle when you click on them.

However, if your old Kindle contained any books, pictures, or documents that you did NOT purchase from Amazon, those items will not appear in the Amazon archive. You will have to download those items to your new Kindle the same way you installed them on the old Kindle. If the only location of those un-archived documents is the old Kindle, then this will become a two step process because you cannot copy from one Kindle directly to another. Instead you must copy the documents off the old Kindle onto a computer using the USB cable, and then copy the books from the computer onto the new Kindle by way of the USB cable or by email using an authorized email account. (To authorize an email account for sending books to your Kindle, please visit Amazon's "manage my devices" section. If the new Kindle is not registered, or if it is blacklisted, then you cannot use the email method to transfer the books. The only way to install books on an unregistered Kindle is directly via USB cable.)

I ordered Priory by Dorothy Whipple for my Kindle today costing £8 but was told I already had it archived so I cancelled my order. Ive now been told the new order and the archived item are being...

It may be that you accidentally ordered it twice, and they've just canceled the second order. Check in your Amazon account (Your account-Your orders-Digital orders) and see if you've actually been charged for this book. If you have, and it's really not available for downloading to your Kindle or already on it, contact them through <https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/contact-us> with the dates you ordered and paid for the book. I've always found Kindle customer service swift, competent, and fair in adjusting errors.

How do i mark the books to show that they have been read

Hi,

Unfortunatelly Kindle does not have this feature. But the books you read get pushed down the list.
Or you can delete the book by using these steps:

1. Select a book and click the left arrow on the 5-way button that brings up a delete button the screen.
2. Press the center button and you delete the book.

Another option is to move the book to a collection this is like to archive the books you already read.

GoodLuck!

Although I had downloaded books, when I went on holiday to the canaries I could not see them, on returning to the UK, I could see them again

I assume you downloaded books but put them into the "Archive". This place holds content for you ready for download (or re-download after deletion) from the Kindle store, but its not actually stored on your Kindle.

The Kindles come with two options for connectivity:
  • Wi-Fi (connect to a Wireless LAN home or public network)
  • 3G (optional, connect via mobile phone data service)
The 3G connectivity works in many countries world-wide, I don't think it was an easy negotiation by Amazon to get so many mobile phone service providers to accept a one-time upfront payment for unlimited data transfer.
The Canaries, however, seem not to have made it to the list. You would need access to a Wi-Fi hotspot (Hotel, Airport, Restaurant, ...) to view archived content, or physically download the books to your device before you go to holidays.
