SOURCE: Whirlpool portable AC, compressor works, but no exhaust fan

This is a single speed permanent split capacitor motor for the condenser. One of the capacitor wires shows infinite resistance to hot and netral. The motor needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: R55B Reddy Heater won't stay running. (PMS? menopause?)

Wow! Yours is the best description of a problem I have ever seen!!! Before I read the whole thing I figured you missed the pressure check as most people do but you nailed it. This is what I would try, Replace the air filter, the fuel filter, and the fuel (to make absolutely sure there is no water in the fuel) and readjust the fuel/air mixture. If that does not do it replace the cadmium cell they only cost pennies. Let me know how you make out and good luck.

PS, I have one of these so I am pretty familiar with the problems.

SOURCE: Full water indicator lit continuously even though

Problem was a stuck float in the small water reservoir to the rear left of the unit.. Remove top and left hand side panel. Small reservoir can be seen at the bottom left. Remove small screw and slide off the cable assembly above. You should then see into the reservoir and the float. Clean float and reservoir and reassemble.

How do I clean the combustion air intake?

If you are talking about between the outside and the gray flex pipe, remove the pipe and blow the stuff back outside. If it is beyond the gray flex pipe, then a disassembly will be necessary.
To prevent further entrance of anything, debris / bugs to either the intake or exhaust, see my modification to the intake/exhaust pipe here: Thread Toyostove Exhaust Bug Shield .

Gas package unit

the bushing or the bearing in the motor may have already worn out. or may need some lubrication. the rotor is trying to turn but it's stiff and won't continue to turn. dont continue to turn on if it wont spin otherwise you'll damage the motor further. it might also be the busted capacitor "if it has"

7 flashes: Gas control valve might be bad.
4 flashes: FV overheat, clean air intake.
Soot indicates clogged air intake slowed combustion venting possibly causing overheating and lockout. Clean air intake screen located on bottom of unit.

Hopefully you didn't get the motor wet or any other electrical components. It sounds like you may have a motor with dry bushings. There may be an oil plug in each bell end of the motor. You can use thin weight oil , about 5 drops into each bushing should do it. If this doesn't work or it doesnt have oiling holes, the motor may have to be replaced Other wise, if you got the motor wet it may short out. In that case you would also have to change the motor

My Napoleon NPS40 pellet stove's exhaust motor is running continuously and the ignitor won't heat up. I've cleaned the stove and look at the reset button, all seems fine.

Check the door gasket material. If it's worn, it's allowing air from the room to be pulled in and has fooled the exhaust motor into thinking it needs to run more. Or the fan ON/Off sensor has failed.

I dont understand how the intake and exaust features work, and the temp guages work? i just use max speed ,

mcdevito75 here, The intake and exhaust feature is simply a reversal of the fan motor or motors. On intake all the air is being brought in from the outside to inside your home, this is fine for the spring and fall, but in the summer time when it"s both hot outside and inside your home you"d want to use the exhaust feature to get the hot air out of your home and let fresh air from the outside in. The temperature settings, unless your fan is actually an air conditioner and not a window fan are the fan motor speeds, you set these speeds to suit yourself. If this unit is an air conditioner you can set the teperature aorund 65 degrees or approx. Half way thur the blue sash on the knob or half way between cool and cooler depending on how your teperature settings read.
