Question about Televison & Video
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I believe that the actual unit may have other problems and that you will need a schematic to aid in your troubleshooting of this issue. Once you have the schematic and a multiment you can check the voltages to see if things ar as they should be and then we can look at what is happening.

Common failure is C702 Capacitor near flyback== 102K/2KV shorted==replace w/102K/3KV generic or Sony part number 1-161-754-00.Also,check E994 open 2 amp pico fuse.

This happing when trying to download a firmware upgrade or config from server and there is a power outgage.
Put a file called cp7912r.zup in your tftpserver root. This file can be a valid cisco image, for example, CP7912080001SIP060412A.sbin

SOURCE: will not stay on
So if you have a blinking red protection LED:
Turned out the pico-fuse for the -23V had 130 ohms resistance. Initial continuity test feature on my meter indicated it was good since anything under 200 ohms is continuity. All of this after many hours of frustration... and not understanding why all secondary voltages on the power transformer were at 50% for the 2-3 seconds of power up before shutting down.
The "leaky" pico-fuse turned into resistor allowed enough power to illuminate -23V LED despite voltage being 1/2.
Replaced with new pico-fuse to get true -23V. All other output voltages followed suit and TV is working perfectly.
Don't trust the green LEDs. Measure all voltages and be sure to verify 1 ohm or less for every pico-fuse.
I don't understand how a faulty -23V rail would cause this problem. Feedback is from the +31V rail which powers standby 12V safety regulator, 9v and 5v switched regulators.
Anyways it works now.
