My Elna su from 1975 runs now only at top speed even if you dont push the footcontrol Has always been very reliable and I dont whant to get rid of it.

If your foot control is not an air control but electric then the chances are the suppressor has blown in the control, open the control and take out the small suppressor, you can then use the machine you don't need that part

Singer 507 starts sewing without touching pedal and smells rubber or oil

it would be a good idea since you smell rubber or oil to have the
machine checked at a sewing machine shop

When I press the foot control there is a buzzing noise from the handwheel area. The noise continues as I sew. I recently cleaned and oiled the machine parts under the needle-bobbin area. I have opened...

The buzzing you can hear is caused by the foot control, I suspect the suppressor is on the way out, not a major problem, undo the foot control and take out the little suppressor connected to the terminals and discard it, you don't need it, plug out first though.

Do not need to push pedal to make it sew.

Undo the foot control and see if you have a small square thing called a suppressor, take it out and throw it away

Bernina Aurora 450 Sewing Machine

If the buzzing noise is coming from the motor it may be the suppressor on the way out and unfortunately for a Bernina it will be a shop job, if the buzzing is coming from the foot control then you can undo the foot control and take out the suppressor and discard it.

The motor will not stop running.

The problem will be in the foot control, undom the control and discard the suppressor which is attached to the two terminals.

Keeps on running as soon as it is pluged in foot pedal dosent seem to do anything

The suppressor has blown usually in the foot control, if you can undo the foot control and take out what looks like a fuse the machine will run perfectly, if the suppressor is on the motor then you will need to take it in to a repair shop because in that case it would have to be replaced, the foot cointrol suppressor does not have to be replaced.
