I think that it is not getting hot enough. When the
cycle us finished the dishes are not hot. could it be
a heating element that is only partially working and
    taking along to heat up?

Make sure the drain line is clear ....when the dishwasher is going through the drain cycle there should be water running down your sink drain .....if you don't hear it or see it then your drain line is pluged ....un plug it and you should be fine

yes it could be the element ..they do burn out , it can be tested with a volt /ohm meter if the circuit is open the element is bad ....also check to make sure the supply line is actually hooked up to your domestic hot water ....the installer may have mixed up the lines ...if your machine is gewtting cold water instead of hot water this is also a problem

My LG dishwasher counter doesn't count down

Since you didn't give the model number, I looked at a general user manual for an LG dishwasher. It suggested that if the water is cold, it would take longer to wash the dishes. That suggests to me that a cold water temperature might prevent the timer from starting till the desired temp is reached. Could that be the problem? Could it be connected to a cold water supply rather than hot? Is the hot water set too low?

Dishes not cleaning after full cycle running

Your screens are plugged with food residue in the bottom of the unit. clean it out. You can use 1 gallon of white vinegar for your wash after you clean the screens. Start your washer to fill with water but after the water starts, open your door and pore all of the gallon in the unit. Let it now run for 4 minutes and stop it by opening the door. Leave the door slightly open for 1 hour. close the door and let the cycle continue for 4 more minutes. open the door and repeat it a couple of more times. Let it sit all night with the vinegar in it and in the morning - close the door and let the cycle continue to the end. This should help soften and clean out the food particles in the unit. You can repeat the process and get a better cleaning then too. All the scale should be off your dishes now.

there is a "smartclean" sensor that measures dissolved solids in the water in an attempt to shorten the washing cycle. however if the dishes have much food left on them, then the washer will continue to run untill it gets a "clean" reading, or it reaches the max run time (180 minutes). all energy star dishwasher require the dishes to be throughly rinsed before washing in the machine. trust me, i know how counterproductive this is.

I am trying to clean earthen pottery plates in my dish washer and after washing half of the plates disappear.

The Kenmore PRO also has an Ultra Wash Filtration High Energy Filtration System that helps the majority of us with hard water. It features 2 spray arms, and a Turbozone that blasts away the most gunked up items you can make a mess on.

The Kenmore PRO also features 6 cycles. The High Energy Smart Wash Cycle is the most advanced and versatile. It actually senses the load size, soil amount, toughness of soil and uses minimal water and energy. The Smart Wash Cycle runs from 110 minutes to a max of 194 depending on toughness of soil and uses from 4.2 gallons of water to 6.9.

The Pots Pans Cycle also makes some adjustments depending on soil level and takes from 140 minutes to 203 minutes to complete. It uses 4.8 to 6.9 gallons of water.

There is also a self-adjusting Normal Cycle that runs from 110 minutes to 193 minutes and uses 4.2 gallons to 6.9 gallons of water.

The Kenmore PRO also has a self-adjusting China Gentle Cycle that provides a light wash and gentle dry for delicate items and runs from 105 minutes to 194 minutes and uses 4.2 gallons to 6.9 gallons of water.

It also has a 1 Hour Wash that runs for 58 minutes and uses 8.0 gallons of water and a 15 minute Quick Rinse Cycle that uses 2.1 galllons of water.

The Kenmore PRO also has 5 other options that are additional to the Cycles. Each option adds time and water to the selected cycle. They are:

TurboZone, HI Temp Wash which raises the water temperature to 120 degrees F, a Steam Sanitize which raises the final rinse to 155 degrees F, a Top-Rack Only Option, and a Heated Dry Option.

The Kenmore PRO also has a Delay Option that allows you to run the dishwasher on off-peak hours and delays the start time up to 6 hours.

I have not field-tested all these options yet, becaue I am such a skeptic -- and picky about my dishes, I usually go ahead and always use the TurboZone, the Hi-Temp Wash, the Steam Sanitizer, and the Heated Dry Option. But, hey if you are plunking down $1500 for a dishwasher--you should make use of all your options. I'll keep this review up-to-date as my dates with the Kenmore PRO progress with dinner parties and my very precious china, but for now (mostly because of the "ClangBanger") our good china is safely stored in the cabinets.

Our Bosch dishwasher has a water sensor that affects the length of the dishwasher cycle. Lately, the cycle will go down to 3 minutes, then sit there running at that time for several minutes and then jump...

check on manufacturers review sites , there may be something simple like it just needs to have a descaler fluid run through it to clear any debris or dirt contaminating the sensor unit itself.

Dishwasher runs for 2 hrs when cleaning is this normal?

The average cycle time range of 80 minutes at the low end to 145 minutes at the high was reported in Consumer Reports article on dishwashers.

Most of the dishwashers rated were in the 110-125 minute range.

So i think what you are experiencing is normal only..

The wash cycle runs and runs.

Most diswashers have a complete cycle that lasts over an hour. The machine fills with about 1.5-2 quarts of water, rinses the dishes for a few minutes, then empties the water, then fills again with new water and rinses for a few more minutes, then empties. This is to get a good bit of the looser gunk off the dishes, and to soften up any other stuff that has dried on there. Then the machine fills a third time, the soap door pops open, and it washes for a much longer time to hopefully dissolve away pretty much anything left on the dishes. Then it empties, and does a rinse the soap off cycle, and usually a final cycle that rinses again with a little bit of rinse agent to help them dry quickly.

The whole process uses about 2 gallons of water.

Hi,
gibpru,
ngafm at your service,

You said, no matter which cycle you pick, it just keeps on running..it gets down to about 15 minutes on the countdown timer, and then resets itself to 80 minutes or so and washes over again..

Did you try turning off the power from the circuit breaker for ten minutes to see if this resets
the system ? Then try to run it and see if it's reset!

Other wise it sounds like an electronic problem and will need a hands on diagnoses!

Bless You

Wash cycle

momrules, it could vary depending on the water entering the dishwasher. On a heavy cycle normal time is about 85 minutes not including thermal holds ( pauses that heat the water). On a normal wash, 68 to 75 minutes not including thermal holds. If the water entering the dishwasher is not at least 120 to 140 degrees the dishwasher will pause in cycles to heat the water before advancing. So 120 minutes is not unrealistic. The heaters in the dishwasher are low wattage and will only heat the water approx. 2 degrees every 5 minutes. Catriver.
