Unless you hit something..have a seized spindle or a bad (bent or not spinning properly) idler ... its on wrong, its that simple. A couple guys on here sent you a diagram link of the belt routing. Follow the design in your manual perfectly on how it is twisted onto the pulley's. If its flat on one side and rounded on the other…make sure the flat side of the belt is touching the pulley where its supposed to be touching flat on that particular pulley as it shows in the manual and when it twist onto another spool , make sure you twist it EXACTLY like it is in the manual and make sure the proper side of the belt is touching the next pulley as well…it sounds ridiculous but it makes a difference on how it spins on the pulleys..it will spinoff EVERY TIME if its not PERFECT…if you're lucky over a little time …or ... either as soon as you start the mower or within a few seconds of running . You can see it moving incorrectly on the spools if you attach the belt and pull it…its hard but you can pull it…watch how it rotates on the spools ….you can see it moving to to top of one of the spools as you rotate….thats not supposed to happen, its supposed to be seated comfortably on the spool as it rotates… I am not a tech but have a farm and take care of all my equipment myself and have gone through this with my ariens (gravely) zero turn mower…it was frustrating for a few hours until I pulled out the manual and it clearly stated that this would happen if the proper belt sides weren't on the proper pulley. And poof ! Amazing fix !! I hope this helps you…..also , just for the sake of things, you mentioned you have new spindles, make sure they are all good…you may have a seized one due to a bad rebuild or just got a bad new spindle. If there are no twist in your belt as you attach…check tightness .....adjust....it may be just too loose.. Doesn't sound like a major fix, just a frustrating one.Best of luck to you..don't give up on cub cadet..they are probably as good as a very expensive ariens ..if not better. Cheers.

Be sure the pulleys isn't bent. there should be belt guards. be sure they are on. with the engine off see if you can turn the blades to see when and where it is coming off.

Check for alignment of all the pulleys--esp the idler arm. Probably enough out of alignment to "work" the belt off----possibly bent?

SOURCE: cub cadet rzt 50, hit stump, blades wont engage but not bent

The blades on this cub cadet are activated with air pressure. Chances are that when you hit that stump, you either blew a fuse or the control module that allows the blades to spin. Begin by checking the fuses. J.

Blades won't engage. I hit something, blades quit turning, check belt, its okay. When you hit button to engage blades, you hear click

When you look under the mower do you see two belts ? Top one goes to the rear axle and lower one goes to mower deck spindle.
Your description sounds like the electric clutch is engaging,so if you are seeing two belts coming off the bottom of the engine maybe the belt bounced off a idler pulley on the deck and is not tight enough.

There are 2 springs on the deck. One attaches to the cable. Where does the other one connect. There are no pictures in the manual.

It looks like in this manual there is a belt that ties the two deck spindles together the manual calls it a timing belt and looks like it is coged and there is a idler pulley that keeps this belt tight, that second spring pulls on the arm that the pulley is mounted on giving it spring tension If it is a timing belt I would look under the deck and make sure one blade is pointing forward and the other pointing sideways so they dont hit each other when passing.I have not seen anything like that sense the first Cub Cadet the made which did not have a Number because there was only one . Deck belt engages but wont stay on

Make sure the belt keepers around the blade spindle pulleys are in place they are designed to keep the belts from coming off the pulley adjust to about 1/8-1/4 inches from the pulley...also make sure the belt tensioner is tight on the drive belt when engaged if it isn't your belts probably need renewed..good luck...

Murray Select Model # 405000X8 trong vibration when I engage mower deck. Also can't keep deck even.

Could be a number of things included but not limited to.....blade spindle bearings....idle pulley or engager pulley......could also have a bad spot in belt....causing a vibration. This vibration could also lead to deck coming out of level as that model have a leveling adjustment on the deck level control lever.

Vibrating 38" deck on MTD yardman mower

Hi, first replace the blade spindle bearings, if you had to hit them to free them up the bearings are shot. Secondly, replace the deck belt. Because you engaged the blades with a siezed bearing the belt will have a worn section where the v will be thinner thus causing the vibration as it passes through the pulleys. Regards Phil.

Smoke coming out when i engage the blades

Most likely the mower belt is rubbing and causing this. But don't try to find it with the mower running! With the engine off, lower the deck and inspect the mower belt for worn or burnt spots. The problem isn't the belt, though. Look under the mower deck - is a branch or other object stuck in there? Get it out, and replace the belt if it's badly burnt.

If it's not a stuck object, than you probably have a frozen spindle (the bearings that hold the mower blades) or idler pulley. Remove the belt and spin each of these by hand to find the problem. The pulleys are not expensive, but the spindles are. I hope it's just a branch. Good luck! Please rate if helpful, thanks!

I need a belt diagram for a ranch king king plus also i need to know the size for the main drive belt

Ranch King is a brand name of the manufacturer MTD.

Product manuals with part blow-up diagrams are available from MTD's web site,
http://www.mtdproducts.com/
Models are identified from the model number printed on a label under the mower seat.
The PTO and deck drive belts are shown on one diagram and the transmission drive belt is shown on another. The Form number on my printed Operator's Manual is 770-10526A (22HP, 46in cut) for Hydrostatic 817/818 models.

Parts can be ordered directly from MTD or other distributors on the web.

It is my experience that original brand name MTD belts work best.

The 22HP, 46" mower deck Ranch King Pro has 3 belts:

The drive belt which runs from the engine pulley back to the hydro drive unit to provide over-the-ground propulsion is part #754-0349.

A mower has either an electric PTO or a manual PTO, not both.

The electric PTO belt the provides power to the blade deck (runs around the electric clutch on the engine shaft (activated by electric switch, not the mechanical hand lever that engages the mower deck) is p/n 754-0476 for the 46" deck.

The manual PTO belt the provides power to the blade deck (runs off the pulley on the engine shaft (activated the mechanical hand lever to the left of the steering wheel that engages the mower deck) is p/n 754-0228 for the 46" deck.

The deck belt that goes around the 3 blade spindle assemblies on the mower deck, to drive the grass cutting blades is p/n 754-0349

In my experience, the PTO belt lasts about half a season, the other belts break about every other season when mowing 4 acres weekly.
