Warranty still alive?
Hope so; the problem could be an expensive one.
The screen appearance is controlled by allowing light from a backlight through by turning pixels off and on.
This switching is done by a matrix that turns on vertical and horizontal pixels of the right shade at the right time to produce the image you see.
One of the control elements for the vertical that controls the transmission of green light from the backlight, has died (no longer switching off and on when told) and these are normally a part of the LCD screen assembly itself and not easily replaceable.
I would be talking to Sharp - this shouldn't happen in 6-7 months of use.

if someone found a solution for the verical line please post it. the laptop has never been hit and the vertical line just showed up there...

You must contact a svc co. This is a upper or lower buffer board problem and possibly a control board. Nothing you have done wrong, it just happened.

Call up Sharp, if you are part of the AQUOS Advantage Program, you get FREE in home service along with the repairs for it.
They'll give you a case number, set you up with a technician and BAM!
I called on a Wednesday and got an appt for that Saturday for the technician to come to my house.
I doubted Sharp alot less after that.

This sounds like a setting that can be adjusted. What I like about some of the Sharp televisions is the av mode setting (preset brightness/contrast adjustments). I am not looking at the manual for this model so I'm not sure if this is an option on this television. However with this being a high end aquos model there is free assistance available to you. You can register your television at aquos advantage and chat live with an aquos advisor at Sharp's Midwest Corporate Headquarters. The agent may advise you to call in if your television need and Industry Initialization because you have to be talked through it. I advise the chat reps initially because when you call you aren't able to speak with the Midwest Corporate Sharp reps unless your call is being escalated.
