SOURCE: Furance not staying on

The flame sensor is not sensing flame.

You can try cleaning it, but will probably have to replace it.

When the sensor does not detect flame after ignition, it will shut down the gas flow.

SOURCE: My dryer when turned on the gas lights and runs

it should shut off and come back on when the thermostat tells it to,also you could have a blocked vent line or the duct is blocked, when did you last clean out the dryer?you need to clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into, blow out the vent line,if it's a long run from the back of dryer to outside i use a leaf blower to clean out the line, next vac out the inside of dryer where the motor is,do this once a year so you don't have a fire and your clothes will dry on time.also with gas sometime the gas coils fail, they will heat for the first 15 to 30 minutes then the flame won't lite until the coils cool down, then they will work again,if you need anymore help let me know and send model number

SOURCE: When call for heat on

It could be the control board, But before I would replace the board I would check to see if the flame sensor is not touching the burner and shorting it out. Also check the flue make sure it is open. This has a combustion blower on it and a proving pressure switch. Some time the pressure drops when the burners come on will trip the switch and start the process all over again and acts just like a flame sensor fault if the flue has some blockage. Also make sure you have a good ground back to the board. A little rust on the burner right at the flame sensor can block the micro signal back to the board. I am sorry I can't remmember the light codes. There should be sticker on the panel with the wiring diagram that show the codes. Good Luck I hope this helps....

My totaline thermostat model #p474-0100-a the backlight is staying on and when the furance is running after only a couple of minutes it shuts off and my furance shuts down .

Multiple issues that are not related. If the pilot light goes out then the thermocouple might be bad. If the pilot ignites the gas and everything shuts off, it sounds like the over temperature sensors are detecting heat in excess of what is allowed in the firebox. The thermostat issue has nothing to do with this.

Furnace shutting off

Thanks for you question,
It will be one of two things, either you have a bad flame sensor, or a bad pressure switch, , the flame sensor is located infront of the burners, its a little rod that the flame impinges on when its lit, you may need to take it out, and clean it, use some emery cloth to clean it then reinstall it, give it a try and if your furance runs, then great, your pressure switch isnt to bad either, you will see one or two small pieces of tubing coming out of it, two possible three wires on the front of it, remove the switch, and take it to your local heating and a/c shop to get a replacement, there is no working on these, hopefully its the flame sensor, alot less trouble ! Hope that was helpful, thanks again for your question, please let us know how we did,
