Question about The Office Equipment & Supplies

Open Question

I am making cable labels with Kroy K5100 printer. I must have pressed something by mistake because now it's skipping every other label. The cartridges are very expensive.

I have a font size of 11, cut marks and length is 1.3".

SOURCE: spits out label but cuts words off

Problem is solved by pressing the function key until "margin" comes up. Then press function key again while "margin" is selected. Use the arrow key to select the "###". Then once that is selected press the function key again. That solved the same problem I had. Good Luck :)

SOURCE: Printing accurately

Hi there within the envelopes and labels print function within MS Word you will be able to set the correct label and sizes. If this doesn't work then adjust the margins.

This problem is nothing to do with your printer as you are sending a command to it and the printer is doing what you told it to do. Check the settings first.

Thanks J

SOURCE: Zebra 105sl - printer does not print correct size

This can happen if you have the wrong dpi setup. For instance the 105sl can be either 203dpi or 300dpi. If your printhead is 300dpi and the label you create is expecting 203dpi, then you will see shrunken label. Your situation doesn't exactly sound like this is the case but it may be worth checking.

SOURCE: can't change the font style & size on my Brother PT-65 Label make

In case you've forgotten how to change the text size, hold down 'Code' and '& Size' key to display the current setting. While still holding the Code button, push and release the '&' key to change the size.

To reset, I would try removing the batteries for a few minutes before reinstalling them.

Just two guesses.

How do I stop printer from skipping every other label while printing

It sounds like the label length is incorrectly specified either in your software or printers parameter settings - when this happens the printers label sensor is aware that it has over-run a label & automatically proceeds to the next gap / label start.

Depending on the software you are using, it's also possible that a label field extends beyond the boundary of the label (this could be empty space & not necessarily have any content).

Also check that the sensor (usually behind the head) hasn't been adjusted by mistake.

If all else fails, check that you label stock has consistent, readable gaps, you can check the output of the label sensor via the printer menu while manually pulling labels through.

Skipping labels

Do you use adhesive labels? It looks like the printer is unable to make the difference betwen the labels. Verify that the printer it's not set on Continuous mode for the media type. Verify if there is any label (or pice of label) stiked on the upper media sensor (gap sensor). You can locate the upper media sensor using the User Manual (page 74). There is an User Manual available for download from Zebra website. You will find there precious information. The manual is very explicit and you will learn how to maintain your printer and how to troubleshoot some common errors. Clean your printer, assure to put the supplies on the right path, close the printhead and press Pause to enter in Ready state.
You can clean the sensor with an coton cloth dampened into isopropylic alcohol.

Dmx i4308 skipping every other label

emelish: If is constant the print label and skip label, you have adjust the label size in your software. If the label skip is not constant, then clean the label sensor, position it in better place and perform a quick calibration pressing and hold FEED button by 5-6 seconds and release it. Maybe you can do it once more time. Roberto Martinez

How do I calibrate the Kroy K4350 printer

Place the label material in the printe, making sure that it is fed below the tiny green circuit board that you will see down in the throat of the printer carriage.

Power off. Firmly hold down the Pause Button.
When the label material starts to feed, Release the Pause button.

When the material stops feeding, you should see two green lights.

If you are seeing a red light instead, you have either been feeding labels with a black mark on the reverse of the liner paper, or there may be some other problem, and you need more help. We're Hanover Technical Sales, Inc. We sell Kroy Label and Wire Marker supplies, and help people thru the little idiosyncracies that they encounter from time to time. I have a Kroy K4100, When turned on the screen is blank?

There are several likely causes. One could be that the display contrast is set too low. Hold down the Shift key and press Set Up. Release. Then use the Right arrow key. Press 7 times. You are now over LCD contrast. Press Enter. Press the Left arrow key to darken, and the Right key to lighten.
If that does not work, there is most likely a display or motherboard problem, neither of which is typically user repairable. We are authorized to repair Kroy machines that are OUT of warranty. You might want to give us a call at (757) 357-2677. We're Hanover Technical Sales, Inc., Kroy's premier sales and support dealer. HELLO: PRINTS ONE LABEL

This could have a couple of different causes. Best thing to do is determine if the problem is with the printer or the software. Turn the printer off and back on again. After the power-on self test is done, just press the feed key. Does the printer feed just one label ? If so, then you know the printer has a good calibration on the size of the label. Now print a label. Does it skip one after printing ? If it does, now you know the problem is in the software because the printer is only going to do what it’s told to do. Check all settings in the label software / printer driver to make sure label size is accurate, correct printer driver is being used, etc.

So first check to see if the printer is ok by itself. If it feeds two labels after powering up, then the calibration is needs to be redone. Also make sure the media sensor is positioned over the label. This can cause skipping as well if out of position.

Hope that helps !
